This beautifully illustrated book about Eisenhower's youth is more than a children's picture book. It is filled with the rich biography of one of America's most remembered presidents. Included is a section for older readers taking a deeper look into his entire career plus helpful references and Internet links for further research. We are certain that Little Ike will become a highly regarded piece of presidential heritage about Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States.

Little Ike: Dwight D. Eisenhower's Abilene Boyhood Reviews

  • Judy Desetti

This was a good read. It details what Dwight D. Eisenhower's life was like growing up in Abilene, Kansas from age 2yrs- 20yrs. The Endnote gives a brief (2pg) description of his life after this age. Where he goes to college, where he was stationed while in the Army, what he did during both WWI and WWII and his rise to political power as president of the United States.

There are three websites given for more research and information as well as further books to read if interested in further study.

The illustrations work well with the text and will help younger kids visualize an earlier period of history.
