    2.5 stars.

I am finding that I like Ms. Wynn's regular, straight contemporary romances more than I like her paranormals.

The set up is that Von Washington has long been the girlfriend of Derrick (she is his fiancee as the story begins). At Derek's behest when he was in the army and deployed overseas, Von would send along letters to Derek's friend and fellow soldier, Sean, at the same time she wrote to Derek because Sean had no family and Derek felt that Sean needed friendly letters from home too . Long after Derek returns home, Von continues to correspond with Sean. Derek has no idea that the two have been continuing their letters.

Sean is captured in a op gone awry and when he returns he decides that he is going to try to get Von for himself, cutting Derek out of the loop.

Initially, as a reader I had no problem with this. Von and Sean had only been corresponding, and even though it isn't completely innocent (it is clear they have a deeper bond & connection than they realize) it isn't over the line. The two have never even met face-to-face. And if Sean figures out he is in love with Von and plans to try to woo her away from Derek, that is fine too.

But the story starts to lose me with the characterization of Derek. Yes, I know the author needs to make is palatable to the reader for the heroine to dump her fiancee for another guy, but I thought the villainization of Derek was too transparent and too broad. There was no place for nuance there. Maybe the length of the story just doesn't allow for it? But rather than giving Von the easy out of being forced to leave her fiance, I would have preferred for her to have to struggle with her feelings for Sean more. I would have preferred for him to really win her, and not just by default.

There is one thing that knocks an entire 2-stars off this book for me:

I was also scratching my head as to why Sean had to be a werewolf. If there is such a thing as wall-paper paranormal, this is it. If you had removed him being a wolf, nothing about the story would have been different. Him being a werewolf had nothing to do with anything.

ove, friendship and secrets make up their lives. Their worlds are about to change forever. Eight years of circumstances have brought them to one pivotal moment; a moment that will rock their very foundations.

Von has been with Derrick for over eight years. She was there for him during his stint in the military and now as he is completing his training to become a minister. She has been in training herself, to become the perfect minister’s wife. Molded and formed with the help of her future father-in-law, Pastor Wilkins. From the very beginning, the man has been controlling their lives. Pastor Wilkins is a force to be reckoned with and he has his own secrets.

Sean Jacobson met Derrick in the military eight years ago. The two of them formed a permanent bond and was it was further fortified by the addition of correspondence from Derrick’s girlfriend Von. For years, they have shared their life experiences with each other. Now Sean is at a crossroads. He just experienced a life altering event and he needs to decide which direction his life will lead. He has known for years that he has deep feelings for Von, but because of his friendship with Derrick, he is hesitant to follow his heart. It’s time to test the water. He needs to finally meet Von face to face, to see if what he is feeling for her is real. If it is, even his bond with Derrick won’t stop him from having her all to himself.

All three of them know something is brewing in their lives. Von is having doubts about the intense involvement of Pastor Wilkins in hers and Derrick’s life. Derrick is feeling the stress and pressure of his ministerial training, turning him into a man that is unrecognizable and Sean is still trying to come to grips with the new person he has become. From the moment all three of them finally meet, they are ticking time bomb. Events explode and lives are changed forever.

I didn’t see this story coming. I was surprised by the religious undertones, hidden pasts and the eventual downfall of these three characters. To say I was shocked is an understatement. While this story does have paranormal elements, they take a major backseat to the whole plot. Seduced by a Wolf is so full of secrets that I was constantly surprised. Ms. Wynn kept me wondering the whole time. She wove a fascinating tale with these three people that had me reluctant to put the book down.

Seduced by a Wolf is not a particularly long book, but Ms. Wynn does an exceptional job with the time that she is allotted. The back story was well placed and perfect in detail and duration. I will say I was absolutely dazed with the main event that changed everything. I was floored by its occurrence and it had me wiggling in my seat. I experienced moments of anger, elation, and even distress while reading this book. The story is unexpectedly action-packed and does have some detailed violent scenes. While this story is considered erotic, there are minimal love scenes. Ms. Wynn definitely went for quality not quantity.

If this book is any indication of Ms. Wynn’s writing ability, she will have a new fan. She mesmerized me with her ability to write an interracial love story without race being a factor. Truly an outstanding achievement since race should never be a factor when you love someone. Seduced by a Wolf is a sensual treat, with unbelievably shocking moments and tantalizing revelations. I enjoyed this page-turner from start to finish!

Okay, Wow! I have to admit when I picked this book to read I wasn’t expecting it to be so deep, I was expecting the run of the mill werewolf erotica, but this is so much more. The writing style has nice flow and we get all the information we need for this 116 page quickie to be a great read.

Sean, ahhh sex in uniform…yum! Von comes off as a pushover, weak little thing in the beginning but really breaks out of her shell nicely. She is easy to relate with, fun, entertaining, and captivating. The villain(s) are easy to hate, and we can’t forget the fierce cousin! The climax is so shocking I literally could not put this book down.

Overall fantastic read! The reason I didn’t go with the full 5 HOOTS is the virgin marathon sex scene. No doubt the werewolf could have the stamina, but there is no way an experienced woman could have that much action and not be crazy sore…let alone a virgin!

I liked this story but my only complaint is that I wish it had been longer. Seems like things were resolved pretty quickly and I would like to have read more of the healing as well as had the seduction take a little longer to happen, mostly to have shown more of Von's self-realizations. Minor nitpicks of an otherwise enjoyable read.

I know that this was the first book in a series by the author, so I hope that she'll have Von & Sean pop up in one of the subsequent novels.

This was a good quick read. Erotic part was good, not too much. The Paranormal was ok, just got a partial shift. But the instincts were there. The book had real issues in it, despite it being a paranormal erotic read. I guarantee you, someone is going through this right now, with the world we live in. Would I recommend it, sure. I like Zena Wynn's work. Love her True Mates series.

This novel was good but it was all sorts of fucked up. Like some of the crap going on was so whacked my eyes almost popped out of my head. I did enjoy the storyline immensely and the best part of the book was when the heroine was all like "Step off, Bro!" I laughed so hard.

Loved The Book!! Always love books that involves Wolves cant get enough of them and this was just another fantastic one

    Smexy!!!

I was enthralled by this tale. Zena Wynn writes amazing stories and this one really captured me from the beginning. Com and Derrick were a hot mess. He was a dictatorial idiot and she was far too easy going. But once she got riled then it was another story. Derrick had been in the military and one inhibitor friend's remained in active duty and has forged a bond with Von. This is where the story gets good. Sean has connected to Von and wants to meet her face to face.

Once they meet, they realize they have feelings for each other. One things leads to another and Derrick shows his true colors and a new enemy steps from the shadows. But the book and find out for yourself what happens. Rest assured after some twists and turns they get their HEA. Great story Zena Wynn.

This book is written like a BET movie.

It has the usural tropes of religion, sex, infidelity, parental control and domestic violence along with the paranormal. (the male protag being a werewolf) The beginning was okay but the characters make choices that made me dislike them equally as the story progressed. I would not recommend it honestly, it's not a fun read, it's just meh.

  • Chandra

I started reading this book but was out when she threw her virginity at him with her fiancé in the next room. Like wth? Dude could have walked out whenever. Also she only met old dude the night before 🤷🏾‍♀️

  • Erin

    I did enjoy this.

However, it took me forever to connect with the main character. I know that women like this exist, but I just can't understand them. Guess that's why I'm not a future preacher's wife.

    I liked Sean.
And though it took me a while to connect with her, I did like Von.

I didn't even have a problem with their pen pal relationship.

I think the real thing I didn't like was Derrick. He was painted with very broad strokes. As another reviewer said, this was to make it okay for us to be okay with Von and Sean getting together.
Also, there was some disparity between how he was described as 'Hooch' and how he was described in the past by Von. Sean mentioned that he was a drinker, who had no problem scoring with the ladies. Then.. Von mentioned that he was very sexually reserved which was due to the abuse. So... He was fine when he was in the military???

I also agree with another reviewer, that the werewolf element of the story could have been left out entirely and it wouldn't have done anything to the story. To me it read as an excuse for why she jumped his bones in the kitchen. (Pheromones is how it was explained away. But honestly, a 24 year old virgin (coming from a someone who finally punched the v-card at 21) could easily have just been so vulnerable after that incident, so frustrated (as she was frustrated), and so many more emotions, that I could easily believe that she could have snapped and done what she did without explaining it away by some paranormal element.

I think if the epilogue had been left out, she could have easily turned this into a new series. A series that I would have gladly read, since Von finally became a woman I could connect with, and would have liked to see more of the adventures/others who were changed.

Oooooh, this is tough! Another instance where I REALLY need to be able to give an additional half star rating.

The writing is actually better than decent! The problems come in with some pretty gaping failures in execution. The biggest? *spoiler below*

Id say its pretty damned important to clarify the fact that there is a REASON why these two people went through with having sex with her fiance not only awake but in the next room. Its explained almost as a throw away point later that Sean was "in heat" and that being the case with his emotional tie to Von it overrode common sense for him. For HER part his being "in heat" meant he was producing a pheremone that would override common sense. Those points being neglected has no doubt caused quite a few readers to toss this book and DNF it lol.

I understood Von even if I wanted to slap the very taste out her mouth most of the time. Its not easy to turn your back (so to speak) on what's been drilled into you most of your life, especially when the teachings began in childhood. I thought the fiance came off almost schizophrenic in the author's attempt to vilify him though. The seed was already planted that he was not as devout as he claimed when Sean explained Derrick's nickname. Id have rather just seen that play out. It would have been enough.

And I'm with others who have pointed out that the werewolf aspect was unnecessary and added nothing to the story. In fact, it detracted a bit. I prefer the idea of them being plain old soul mates without all the wolf garnish in this scenario. Overkill.

Though I enjoyed the characters in this story, I found it lacking somehow. Ms. Wynn is one of my favorite IR writers and I look forward to her lastes releases but this one fell short, not seeming to reach her usual standard. The problem may be that it wasn't long enough to address all the complications that came with one of the characters, so as a reader I was told a lot of information all at once instead of seeing it unfold in the reading?

  • Ishabelle

The love story was okay. Derek's story was very sad. However, I definitely did not see the significance of Sean being a werewolf. It's a storyline that the book certainly could do without.

I would personally have liked it better if they were all just ordinary people. Not really a plot that needed paranormal leaning.

  • Latricia

I would really give this story a 3.5. I love this author. I read this book in less than 10 hours.

What didn't I like? The ending. I hated th Derricks (Jr. and Sr) from the beginning of this book. In less than 2 pages, I found out why....It should have been much longer!! I would have also enjoyed more than a paragraph to conclude the true villain.

    I do love Von's cousin!!!

    Possible series?
