"Sweetheart, I'm yours. And I'll be yours hanggang sa matuyo ang dagat sa San Ignacio. In other words-until I die..."

Then came the announcement that shocked Nadia. Mag-on na sina Miles and Arlyn.

But would Miles forgive her?

Out of the novels that Martha Cecilia had written, this is by far the best, in my own opinion. I am a sucker for unrequited love and the story is very much relatable.

I can't remember how many times I had read it. The reason why I keep going back to this book is because I always want to feel that poignant and bittersweet feeling in my chest when Nadia had to endure all pain while loving Miles ever since she was a mere child.

Needless to say, this book had made me cry. :)

One of those stories that got me hooked in Martha Cecilia's writing. I remembered reading in one of her books that the concept for the whole Sweetheart series is that first love never dies (or something in the same meaning) and so most of the stories starts on the teenage years of the characters. But in this case I think Nadia's feeling for Miles started much earlier since they met when they were still kids and she continued having feelings for him for like, forever. I was in my teenage years when I first read this and I can't help but relate so much to Nadia with her unrequited love and all (ugh, I know). Nadia's feelings of jealousy, pain etc, etc were simply expressed and it makes it more real. It makes the reader feel so much more (well I did. I'm probably too easy ) One of the things that I like about this book is that, if I'm not mistaken, it's my first time to encounter a psycho-bitch-from-hell as the antagonist in a Filipino Romance pocketbook. And when I say psycho-bitch-from-hell, I mean literally. The antagonist is pretty much sick in the head and needs to be admitted in a psychiatric ward at the end of the story. Usually we get the 'step-sister' type of villain or rich snotty brat but in this case Arlyn is a crafty pyscho with daddy issues and that was very interesting for me. Anyway I don't really care that much for Miles cause I can't remember anything remarkable about him. He's just the typical handsome and kind guy that you would read in a novel but not really remember Martha Cecilia has created far more better male protagonists. Nadia was so much more interesting especially when she was younger but despite Miles total blandness the "Sweetheart" part just gets to me every time.
