What happens when beautiful, twenty-year-old petty thief and ex-stripper Mink LaRue finds out she's a dead ringer for the age-progressed photo of the missing oil heiress Sable Dominion?

Harlem-born Mink LaRue makes a beeline to Dallas, Texas, pretending to be the Dominions' long-lost daughter, Sable. She knows she's hit the jackpot when she and her super ghetto partner in crime, Bowlegged Bunni, are admitted into the Dominions' 20-room mansion, complete with all the trimmings of a luxurious family estate. But it's not long before Mink's newfound siblings grow suspicious of the ghetto princess, who has a rap sheet a mile long.

If Mink is to worm her way into their pockets and get her hands on their dough, she must tell enough lies to convince everyone that she really is the precious daughter who was stolen from their fold. But with a DNA test standing between her and a hefty inheritance, how long can Mink's bag of lies keep her rolling in the Dominions' riches?

Natural Born Liar (The Misadventures of Mink LaRue, #1) Reviews

  • Me'Tova Hollingsworth - Bethley

I loved this book. I've read all of Noire's work and this is no different than all the others when it comes to her her natural writing skills. The characters in this book was a trip. Norie packed every type of person in this book from kissing cousins to pain sluts. It was so funny. After reading this book, you will find that Mink and Bunni are not the only ones with a secret. Everyone has a motive of thier own. I can't believe that Mink and Bunni managed to pull this off at least for now. Don't want to give way any spoilers, but the whole time I kept wonder what if the real Sable Dominion shows up? Well in book two we will find out if it really is the real Sable Domininon or is someone else trying to get paid. So many questions will have to be answered in the next book. Mink is in for a long, bumpy ride. I hope she is ready. You know this will give her step brother the ammunition he needs to cut her out. Will Barron finally get what he wants? Job well done, Norie!!!

I wasn't ready for it to end so soon!!

  • ConSonia

I absolutely love this book it was a hot, ghetto mess.. LOVED IT CANT WAIT FOR PART 2 THIS MONTH.;-)

  • Sandra (Book Loves) Atueyi

I enjoyed reading Natural Born Liar. Noire did a good job. Natural Born Liar is a good book but each of characters are a hot mess.

Mink LaRue is stupid and ratchet. Mink is a good liar and unfaithful person. Dajuan has played her real good. She lost the money and everything. She needs to be careful how she treats people. Gutta will going to find out that Mink stole his money and lost his apartment. Mink is also a con artist who is thinking about her and the quick money. I think that she could handle the shrewdness and power of three Dominion Family. Mink LaRue is a adopted by Jude Jackson.

Pilar is a hot mess. I'm laughing at her because she is trying to front of her friends. She thinks that she has lot of money and she could go to shopping but she feels embarrassing and humiliating because both of her credit cards declined. Barron is something else and crazy. I don't understand the relationship between Barron and Pilar.

I'm looking forward to read another book from this author. This book and author deserve a five stars. Keep writing & Keep posting!

I'm currently reading this book and I actually love it! It's an interesting book about a woman who will do anything for money. Her and her friend comes up with a scheme to get ALOT of money and you will be surprised at what happens when you read it. This book will have you reading until you are on the last page. Once you read this book, you will not be able to wait to read the second book!

  • Dee Cherry

Truly entertaining. This is one of the funniest urban books I have ever read. The scheming minds of Mink & Bunni are hilarious. Ready to read more of their drama and conniving ways in Sexy Little Liars!

  • Lesa Divine

Mink is a natural born liar.
She uses her sex appeal to weasel her way in and scheme to get paid so she can live that life.

But when her friend finds a good scheme to collect some big money she doesn't say no.

She's all in to take from the rich for her own greed deed.

Interesting to see where the rest of this series goes.

This book tells the story of Mink LaRue who is a thief and former stripper living in Harlem. One day Mink's best friend Bunni notices how much Mink looks like a missing oil heiress on the back of a milk carton. Mink and Bunni, who are low on funds, hatch a plan to go to Dallas Texas and pretend Mink is the long lost Sable Dominion.

Right from the start, these two ladies are always in some sort of trouble. They realize that if Mink can convince everyone that she is Sable that they will be set. Mink and Bunni are hilarious with all the crazy things they do to get Sable's inheritance. They are excellent manipulators and are so slick with their lies.

I have never read any of Noire's books before but loved the writing and the characters. It was a fun read!

The ending was good, but left things up in the air. I can't wait for the next book and want to find out if Mink gets away with everything and if she really is Sable.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Thank you!

Natural Born Liar was crazy good !!! Just when u think you know what's going to happen bam "you don't know jack shit" smh the book grabs u in from the first page and holds u all the way til the end and will have You feigning for more.
Mink and her friends from Harlem are ratchet in every way possible from their style to their personalities. They set out for Texas to claim an inheritance for Sable and they turn the place upside down and actually end up making friends in odd places. I enjoyed the book and the sex scenes as usual. Great read!!! IT WAS SO EASY FOR ME TO HATE MINK. IN MY EYES SHE HAD NO MORALS or INTEGRITY I swear, NOIRE knows how to write a good damn book from the first page I kept shaking MY FUCKING HEAD . . . not one person in this book good only person who was decent was the mom. She's the only person who had a right to be hurt she lost her daughter I know that must hurt . . . I don't think this book should of ended with us waiting for book 2. There wasn't enough happening in this book for this to even carry on into a book 2.

  • Vette

Natural Born Liar was a very enjoyable book not your typical Noire style though. I already pre-order pt2. Its one of those books that you must continue on to see the outcome. Mink and Bunni sure know how to run a scam or do they??? We will soon see when Sexy Little Liar drops in Oct 2012.

  • Suzzette

This was a good book. You have to read part 2.

I listened to the audio and this book had me hooked right away. Looking forward to book two in this series.

  • Danielle Baldwin

    Loved it!!

  • Danita Brown

Noire did the damn thing in this book. I can't believe the events that happen in this book, I couldn't put it down.

  • Carol Hornsby-mccoy

I was told as a young girl, never judge a book by its cover. That saying is still been proven to be true today. Nice work, exceptional plot. It grabs you attention from page on and holds it throughout the book. The friendship between Mink, Bunni and Peaches, it was great. I don't say I care for the sexual acts between all the different family members, regardless, some of them were adopted. That's just some Jerry Spring crap. But I can't wait to start book took.

I really liked this book, I'm looking for the other one right now!! I enjoyed all the characters especially Peaches huni, I can just imagine his big ol self with some damn lingerie on!! Lol! Mink, on the other hand is a low down dirty broad that'll make somebody kill her ass with all the stuff she be into. Taking her man's money while he's locked up, & losing his spot?? She was doing the most for real.Once they arrived in Texas I started feeling a "B.A.P.'s" vibe. I can damn near see Bunni as Micki just loud n ghetto!! There were parts that I thought should've been corrected due to the character's personality like when Mink & Bunni were outside the DNA testing office, why would she slip up and talk reckless in earshot of one of the Dominion's drivers when she was so on point with everything else?? All the incest going on through me for a loop with Barron n Pilar and Mink n Uncle Suge. It didn't matter to him if she was the real Sable or not, he just wanted to some ass... Barron is a real ass hole, how you gon fantasize about somebody you can stand to be around?? Both his & Pilar's characters were disturbing. My heart went out to Selah, this next book is gon be a mess!! I can go on n on all day about these characters though lol!! This was definitely a good read, I would probably read it again. Noire is the bomb!!

  • Denise Gilliam

This book was my first read by this author. All I can say is that Mink is a piece of work her and her damn friends. I really don't agree what she does to get her paper bit I understand her situation. Baron and Pilar are a piece of work. Great job Noire now on to part 2.

  • K Nikki Waden

This book was a disappointment, very little drama and the storyline did not give me any reason to read part 2

  • 💖📚BOOKZAMILLION📖💘

This was a great read. Idk about all the kissing cousins stuff. And what in the fat uncle sleeping with young niece who not really the niece but just posing? Now the ending has me wanting to dive directly into the next installment.

    100 ⭐️ read!!!

I really loved this this little series! Nior’s writing style is captivating and really funny. It had just the right amount of action balanced with sexy hot scenes and wild adventures, and hilarious characters that you can’t help but love. The series a little bit trashy cheesy soap operaish but in the BEST of ways!! Just like watching a reality tv show! Such an entertaining, fun read!

  • Tiara Celeste

I loved this book! It kept me laughing & anticipating! I was so eager to get to the next page that I didn’t notice that I was reading so fast! Ready to read the next one as we speak. Checking it out today! 🖤

  • Latoya

    This was kinda, sorta entertaining.

  • Natasha

Mink Minaj is a piece of work. It kept me on the edge of my seat. An urban book about the hood & hood ways. As soon as I finished I went to the library so quick to get the next book. I def recommend

  • Hilary

This book was a fun read, but I much prefer Noire’s grittier novels like G-Spot and Hittin’ the Bricks.

  • Dhaverma

    Loved the characters and plot.

  • Fanchon De Luca

Great book! I finished reading it in two days! Mink and Bunny a mess! But I love them. I hope Mink is truly the real Sable. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

  • PepperP0t

Petty thief and former stripper Mink LaRue and her bestie, Bowlegged Bunni lament their lack of funds when Bunni mentions how much Mink resembles a missing heiress ... after seeing her picture on a milk carton! Funds being what they are, in this case, non-existent, a scheme is born. The makeover to become Sable Dominion is underway and a trip to Dallas is planned.

As a foundation piece there is a bit of extraneous information and enough question are left over to intrigue the reader to find out what happens next. Though Mink has may have few redeeming qualities, she is charming and likable. The outrageous, over the top situations find our heroine with friends in unexpected places. If pieces of B.A.P.S. come to mind along the way, this reader is right there with you.

Having never read this author this reader had no expectations. But what a ride! Unfortunately 'hood lingo and patois may be off-putting to mainstream readers that can't fathom a Friday night in Harlem with hookers on the corner, but that shouldn't put a reader off. (Think of it as any neighborhood with cheaper clothes and rates. And less pretense about what's going on.) The snappy writing easily invites the reader to take this fast paced, humorous ride and think about going again immediately.

In need of some money quick. Mink Larue and her beastie Bunni head to Texas pretending to be long lost daughter of the Dominions, a wealthy family whose daughter was kidnapped when she was younger. Realizing her task was not going to be as easy as rigging a DNA test, she must also convince her newfound siblings of her sincerity in being the missing girl.

I was immediately drawn into the book and story of Miss Mink Larue. This story brought on just enough comedy with a hint of drama to keep me turning the pages and finishing the book. It was full of 'ratchet' moments that made me want to simply embrace the ratchet community. Mink & Bunni were Brooklyn to the core and they wasn't planning on changing their attitudes or behaviors for anyone. I love how Noire stayed true to the character of Mink. He didn't go out of what was expected of her by having her 'mature' from the experience. She was ratchet when she got a little money in her pocket. I absolutely loved this book!
