His scars were visible. Hers weren't.

Lisel Garrick never expected to be stranded in Dawson, Colorado, at the mercy of a saloon-owning gambler named Brent Laskin. But then, she never expected her little brother Daniel to gamble with borrowed money!

Now it's up to Lisel to set things right, even though it means tangling with a man she has every reason to despise.

Scarred and without a woman for more years than he cares to count, Brent Laskin insists on marriage as the only way Lisel can pay off the debt her brother owes. Lisel tells him no, but he refuses to take no for an answer.

The trouble is, he might just have to.

One thing is certain: Lisel is more than a match for Brent. She is a woman with a past . . . and with a mind of her own.

Laskin's Bluff Reviews

  • Apocalyptic Thoughts

I read this book primarily because this author's fanfiction writing is awesome. I realize this is a romance novel and by being in that category I should not expect much.
I found this book cliche, boring, paced too quickly, and somewhat insulting to women.

The main character is meant to be a strong female but it doesn't show as she is forced to "marry" a man primarily to save her brother. She comes across as pouty and rude. The man, who is the stereotypical "manly man" comes across as creepy, a rapist, and slightly psychopathic.

I'm hoping this author puts out another book actually showcasing her talent instead of this "fluff" piece.
