Moira Dunne is a witch--the quantum physics kind. Time and space are her playthings. Which might explain why her one-night stand from a hundred years ago has turned up to "claim" her--and request her family's assistance with the war he's brewing. But the more she learns about Connlan Kayrs, the more she comes to think this is normal behavior for him. . .
There's Nowhere To Hide
When Conn and Moira tumbled on the moonlit grass, Conn hadn't meant to mark her as his mate for all time. She was only twenty! But it wasn't easy to wait for her. It was even harder to forget her. So when he finally returns for his wicked-hot witch, he's ready to let the sparks flying. Even if he burns up in flames. . .

My God I love this series so much. With each new book the plot just gets deeper and juicier. In this book(book 3) Conn is heading to Ireland to bring home his mate. He has given her 100 years to get use to the ideal of being his mate and to finish her witch training and education. But it won't be easy. Moira is upset that Conn left her for 100 years and she doesn't want to be another one of his obligations she wants love.
"I am being a grown-up, jackass. This is an adult discussion."-Moira
“Right. When you’re not enforcing our laws or having crazy vampire-monkey sex ... sure you’ll find time to start a college.” “Vampire-monkey sex?” Moira snorted. “Yep. That’s how I imagine it.”-Brenna and Moira
Connlan Kayrs is the ultimate super soldier He loses a lung, half a heart , both kidneys, liver and still ripping Mofo's heads off lol. He is a Kayrs so of course he is a sexy bad ass total alpha male (vampire) but he was very understanding with Moira and very patience. I almost rated this book 4 stars instead of 5 because of Moira, but the book was too good even with Moira being a lil brat to give it anything less than 5 stars. Conn calls her ‘Dailtín’(Brat) which fits her to a tee... Moira in the first part of the book made me want shake her a little. She was kinda selfish and immature, but she was also smart and brave, kick ass and loyal. Once she got over her butthurt feelings about Conn not really wanting her because he gave her a 100 years to finish her school(which she asked for) Moira grew on me.
"I love you Moira. Asking you to be someone you're not, I wouldn't do. Besides, I'm excellent backup. And now that I have all this witch energy, I'd make a hell of an enforcer."-Conn
“Make no mistake, you and I remain solid even if the rest of the world blows up. We start at that point, then move outward.”-Conn
Conn and Moira made love and war. They fought and then had angry sex til about the middle of the book, but never did I doubt their love for each other. I loved getting a deeper look at Jordan and Katie's relationship dynamic, and can't wait to get their story. I also enjoyed getting to know Kane a little better. And as always it's a good read when Talen is involved. This book gave us readers a deeper peek into the sick mind of the up and coming bad guy Kalin. At only 15 boy does Kalin have issues, but for some reason that makes no sense at all I kinda like Kalin. In this book we also get a closer look at the witch part of this paranormal world. I really liked Brenna (Moira's little sister)she had a ton of sass. This book had it all.. magic, war, kidnappings, hot Kayrs brothers, and "wild vampire monkey sex" what more could you ask for......
"I love you, Connlan." His smile went wide. "I love you too. So how about we get married at the chapel where I first saw you? Tomorrow?" Married? "Well I guess it's time. I mean, since we courted for a century."-Moira and Conn

Connor & Moira
A long time ago somewhere in Ireland the not so young vampire Connlan Kayrs mated a young and inexperienced witch.
Moira Dunne was the seventh sister of the seventh sister and she was destined to be powerful and great as part of the Coven Nine. She had the potential to be the most powerful ruler of the Council of the Coven Nine.
Unfortunately her powers were still underdeveloped and the fact that she was mated did not really help.
Conn realizing his mistake, left her alone for 100 years to come into terms with the fact that she is his and to gain the knowledge and the powers.
In “Hunted”, Conn is back to Ireland. This time, he will never let his little witch leave him. The first meeting naturally does not go well:
“Hello, mate.”
“You need to go home, Connlan.”
“Or what?”
“Or I’ll destroy you.”
Their relationship, 100 years after, needs to be reestablished. The timing is not the best for The Realm:
-The Council of the Coven Nine wants to stop obeying to the vampire king and stop the alliance between the witches and the vampires.
- The Realm is at war with the Kurjans.
- The demons have declared war as well.
- Caleb the new prophet for the Realm is at war with the Demons for a century and now he has the Realm backing.
-The shifters are not happy their leader the lion Jordan, while he has his own problems with his lioness Katie Smith.
-Witches disappear.
-Shifters become mindless werewolves.
Obviously it is not the best time to fall in love all over again. But Conn really insists:
“I want all of you, Moira.”
And their intimate moments will be full of passion and abandonment.
To be honest, I really thought that the series would be less complicated. I am glad it is not what I thought. I am happy with this complex world so far and I love the way the species intertwine, fight and fall in love. -
Okay - I've heard both sides of this debate. Should an author give his/her own book a rating? On one hand...duh! Of course we like our books. So, why put stars down? But on the other hand, if we don't like our book, who will? I didn't put any stars on one book, and a reader emailed me asking what was wrong with that book. She was really nice, but I started to wonder...what should we do?
Goodreads is a place for everyone's opinion...and us authors have opinions too. Shouldn't ours be counted as well as everyone elses? Or would it be better for only people not associated with the book to give ratings? But who isn't associated? I have friends who are authors who like my writing, so what about them? Are they biased?
My basic answer here is that I have no clue whether or not I should give my books a rating. As for HUNTED, I really enjoyed writing about Conn and Moira. They were a blast as a couple...lots of power and strength. Hence my rating. :) -
Conn and Moira's story:
Fun, fast paced PNR series. Great storyline, characters and suspense. Instalove, mates for life, possessive Alphas and grotesque evil foes. There are Vampires, Shifters, witches, Demons and more. This is a continued storyline focusing on a different couple per book.
I wasn't sure if this couple was going to be believable since Conn stayed away from his mate for a century. As strong as Tale, Dage and Max felt when they met their mates it didn't make sense that Conn could stay away for so long. I realized that I just didn't care. Once he decided to bring her home he was just as obsessed as the others.
There was a lot more going on in this book. It seems there were many more enemies popping up. As soon as one was taken care of, another one attacked. Everyone trying to take advantage of the Kurjans starting war again. It kept the storyline at a fast pace and you didn't know what was going to happen next.
Moira was an awesome heroine. She's just as much of a fighter as Conn and it was nice to see these two fight together. I'm really enjoying how much of a protector these Vampires really are and how well they treat their women despite being a bit cavemanish. -
3.5 stars
I recently read this series (actually I listened to it) from the beginning to the end after having stopped reading after book 3 the last time I started them. That many books in one series at one time can be a good thing or it can hurt the series.
I admit this series is one I have enjoyed from beginning to end, although some books I liked more than others. I also thought that the later books became a little formulaic. All that being said...
I was skeptical on this one. I mean they mated and stayed away for 100 years?! PLEASE!!!! That is a HUGE no-no for me in a "mate" book.
But I really liked Connor and Moira. I had not expected to. I will say that I am NOT on board with them staying apart for 100 years. It just did not make sense to me. But during the book, I thought they made a good team. She was a bad ass, but certainly no where near Con.
The continuing storyline still has my attention and I look forward to the next book.
Safety Gang safe. -
4+ "Vampire/Witch" Stars!
Loving this series. Loved Conn and Moira. Con was a reasonably reasonable male. Moria had spirit and spunk. This may be my favorite of the series so far. Only complaint was I wanted her to be a tad bit more BA with the magic, though she did show some serious skilzs in the end. Can't wait to get to the next one. More to come soon-maybe. RL is super busy these days...
Happy reading! -
This series is so much more than romance. While it's got loyal, protective, bossy alpha heroes its also loaded with action. The suspense, mystery and magic keeps the plot moving and my heart racing. So many characters yet they all keep my attention. It's lighter on romance in this installment as the set up is 100 yrs of separation. The great thing is we don't have to read about it.. Its already over. Conn is ready to claim Moira and nothing will stop him. Moira is the most badass heroine so far. I liked her bravery and her loyalty. Great addition and I'm so curious about the future of Janie and Zane.
100% safe -
4 - A Vampire & A Witch Face Off In A Bar! Stars.
I have to be honest and say I got so absorbed in this book that I didn’t actually write many notes to put together a review with.
That is a good thing as far as I am concerned though, as it indicates just how bloody absorbing each book is. I can’t say this is my favourite so far. I didn’t connect with Moira as much as I did with Cara, Emma & Sarah, but the whole story progression and the development of the characters is still so beautifully constructed that you can’t help but enjoy what you are reading.
Let’s face it sexy dominant Vampires are pretty much a win-win with me and the Kayrs brothers tick the boxes with aplomb!
I loved the banter between Conn & Moira, and that some of the book was set in Ireland. Conn’s pet name for Moira ‘Dailtín’ is very apt and I think this is one of the main reasons I didn’t connect with her as much as I would have liked to. After spending a century apart as you would imagine the sex is hot and ferocious, and sometimes messy, which is as you would expect when a powerful Witch and Vampire come together.
”You’re it for me Moira. I’m keeping you.”
Jordan and Katie are up next, and bearing in mind the sexual tension has been bubbling away between them since book one. I am expecting another outstanding read from the imagination of Rebecca Zanetti. -
The fourth book in the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti and in my opinion the most action filled. Every time I turned around there was another enemy, another crisis, another mystery to solve and I loved every minute of it! So many more opportunities and scenarios have opened up with this book that even if it had not been my plan to do so, I would continue on with the next.
Moira, the heroine, was everything I wanted her to be. She never backed down to her fellow witches, her job as an enforcer and most especially to Conn. I was afraid he would overpower her as many alpha heroes tend to do with their women, but he did not. Yes, he wanted to protect her but never at the cost of losing who she truly was.
Still filled with lots of alpha vampires and shifters, we now have the promise of a demon to come. All of it is being built up to a five year olds dreams and visions and the expectation of a vampire of her own that will help her to save the Realm.
If it sounds complicated, it’s really not. There is enough backstory in each book that I believe they could each safely and comfortably be read as a standalone. Your problem is going to be limiting it to just one. I assure you, it can’t be done. -
3 Stars
I seriously struggled with this one. I don’t know how to explain it. Maybe it’s because Rebecca Zanetti kind of writes like J.R. Ward in the sense, she adds a lot of secondary character development and since it’s been ages since I’ve read the first two books, I was kind of lost who’s who and who’s married to who and who had who’s kid.
I only remembered that Moria and Conn were apart for 100 years.
You would think there would be crazy tension, but for the life of me, I couldn’t get into the chemistry. Also I didn’t like Moria being an enforcer. It was too masculine for my taste. What can I say, I like the damsel in distress?
Also, with a steamy cover, you would think they would have steam, but honestly, for the length of the book and there were only two steamy scenes, I really hate false advertising.
I think the book could have been edited down by 30%.
I kind of want to continue only because I’m curious about the next couple, but I really hate the secondary character development. It’s hard when you don’t have the greatest memory. -
“You’re it for me Moira. I’m keeping you.”
Hunted is the third book in the Dark Protectors Series. An epic paranormal romance series with warriors who have superpowers and their magical mates, Rebecca Zanetti has crafted a world that once you visit, you will never want to leave. Moira Dunne is a witch that has fought her entire life for her independence and the strength to do what is right. Although she mated a dark protector, she fears that they can never be together. Connlan Kayrs has given his mate time to grow, and now he is ready to make her his completely. The two come from different worlds, but together they will become unstoppable."The decisions she faced would determine who she became."
Overall, Hunted is another crowd pleaser with non-stop action, powerful magic, passion, and an amazing ensemble of characters. I listened to the audible version of this read, and I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance. Although each story can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend starting this series from the beginning and enjoying every single second with this crew. I stumbled on this series one day, and I look forward to reading every single one!

I stand by that there was significantly more sex than there needed to be, but overall I enjoyed it. Since I've gotten some distance between this and Wicked Ride, I think I found myself enjoying it more. Still not okay with Janie not being in it very much–especially considering she freaking jumps ten years in the next book which I was never quite prepared for.

I don't know. I feel like I might not be in a very pnr kind of mood. More specifically, a erotic romance kind of mood. I liked this well enough, but there were times where I was just tired of the sex. And that generally doesn't happen to me. I just sort of zone out whenever the sex is going on. I also think that reading
Wicked Ride before this series sort of ruined this book for me. As soon as was introduced I knew what was going to happen.
Also, Janie wasn't in this one as much, and I am not okay with that.
I'm not sure.
I feel like me and Kate Daniels (and Curran) need to have a talk about being so good that nothing else can compare. It's annoying. But don't stop Kate, I love you. It's just really inconvenient for me at the moment. -
Hunted is the third book in the Dark Protectors series and this time the main couple is Connlan Karys, a three hundred year old vampire and member of the ruling Karys family and Moira Dunne, a witch who is the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter and destined to take her place on the powerful Coven of Nine council of witches in Ireland. I am not at all fond of witches and went into reading Hunted with a lot of wariness. Meeting Moira didn’t raise witches much for me. In PNR I prefer my heroines to be human and the male supernatural. I love the aspect of humanity bringing focus and clarity to power.
Unlike the first two books with human heroines, I did not feel much connection with Moira. After one night of sex with Conn, they are automatically mated then lived separated for one hundred years while she trained as an enforcer to take her place on the ruling council. One hundred years of separation as a plot device just did not make for an epic love story. Conn and Moira’s pairing just did not have much chemistry despite the numerous sex scenes once reunited. I found myself skipping past pages of thunderous orgasms…boring. Their pairing seemed more of an excuse to introduce witches into the story and travel to Ireland.
Instead of taking her rightful place on the council, Moira is caught in a familiar conflict of choosing her family and her place on the council or to becoming someone’ mate and forfeit her calling. Moira ended up being shuttled underground in the Karys compound, assuming her role as mate, and Conn absorbing all of her skills and gaining leverage over the Coven. I was also irritated with Conn constantly referring to Moira as “brat” because she wouldn’t just do as he told her.
The best parts of the book were the scenes that involved the now five year old Janie and Kalin, the psychopathic young Kurjan who also appears in Janie’s dreams. I knew Kalin would not likely remain “nice” and that he would choose the path Janie tried to steer him from taking. But it was interesting to see Kalin try to be “good” and what he could have been had he made a different choice. It was awesome to see Zane show up again in Janie’s dreams, I am anxious to get to Zane and Janie’s story. I am also looking forward to more interactions with the demons; I don’t think they will be as easy to be out maneuvered like the witches were. -
I am so hooked on this series right now that I am currently binge reading it on my laptop and book from the library and complaining about it at every turn. Sorry family. Not sorry. But I am absolutely loving this world and all of the people in it.
Conn and Moira where a couple I was looking forward to getting to know better and there were so many layers to them and their relationship. Between the war, the demons, the witches, and the century since their mating there was a lot of drama for them to sift through.
Both characters were awesome, and I loved that Conn was so good at seeing what Moira was worried about and allaying her fears. Even if he was also great at doing the chest beating overbearing alpha. And Moira knew who she was and fought for it. Then we got more of everyone else plus the next chapter in the war and a baby. Sigh.
And now I have Jordan and Katie waiting for me on my kindle because it was only $5, and I can't read on my phone for another day. Yeah, I know my brains an acehole and my kindle is trying to figure out why I'm reading bits and pieces of this series. -

The ultimate second-chance romance - Conn and Moira... 100 years later!
4 Sexy PNR-lovin' stars.
We’ve seen glimpses of Conn and Moira’s story in the two previous books of the series, and I have been so excited to get to this one! When a one night stand a century ago resulted in Conn accidentally marking and mating a young and naïve Moira, all hell almost broke loose. With the best of intentions, Conn signed a treaty stating that he would stay away from Moira for 100 years, giving her the opportunity to grow and mature, and to complete her training to become a witch. And now that 100 years is up, he is determined to claim his mate once and for all.“You’re it for me Moira. I’m keeping you.”
It’s a fantastic set up – I love a second-chance romance – but this one has the added complication of Conn and Moira’s places in their world. Conn is one of the princes of the Realm, a member of the royal family of Vampires that rule over the supernatural world. Widely accepted as the greatest soldier ever known, he is well respected and heavily involved in the running and protection of the Realm. But the witches don’t really trust the vampires, which creates a further tension between our star-crossed lovers because Moira isn’t just any witch – she is the seventh sister of the seventh sister, super powerful with incredible potential (and in this world, witchcraft isn’t magic, it’s physics based with Moira manipulating matter to her will – it’s a really clever interpretation which I loved!). And on top of that, Moira has no intention of going anywhere with Conn. She still believes she needs more time to perfect her craft, and is secretly hurt that Conn stayed away for so long. How could her ‘true’ mate stand by for so long, and has he only come for her now out of obligation?
Conn’s definitely got a battle on his hands, and he knows it! His mate is stubborn and headstrong, and he knows that she is hiding things from him. Neither of them are sure they can trust the other. But when a mysterious force attacks, witches start going missing, and it becomes clear that Moira’s life is in danger, the two of them are forced to work together to uncover what is going on.
It’s a surprising and twisty journey, with lots of political manoeuvring. Plots and betrayals are uncovered, and Moira finds herself torn between her family and coven, and her mate and his commitment to the Realm. It’s all really cleverly woven together, and the intrigue and action is non-stop from start to finish, and I loved the journey.“It was coming down to more than what she wanted to do for a living. The decisions she faced would determine who she became.”
And, of course, there’s the love story. Conn wants his mate, and there’s a bit of back and forth from Moira as she struggles between her head and her heart, but with every moment they spend together they fall deeper and deeper, and the emotion between them develops really nicely. Of course they are madly attracted to each other, and that is demonstrated again and again with lots of steamy time, and the idea of fate vs lust vs love is explored really well.“Make no mistake, you and I remain solid even if the rest of the world blows up.”
This book ties in really well to the rest of the series, with the ongoing battle faced by the Realm still a very big part of the action. And OMG, is there action! Lots of fight scenes and big-scale battles had me glued to my kindle with my heart pounding, and with the rest of the Conn’s brothers involved, it becomes a real family affair. There’s a bit of time spent with the couples from the previous book, with some great progression for them, and future books continue to be set up – I am literally panting for Jordan and Katie’s story
I love the way this series is unfolding. Each story is its own, but very closely tied to the overarching story arc, and the paranormal world is developing brilliantly! It’s complex without being confusing, and the ever-increasing threat of the looming war adds a great intensity. I love the action and excitement with touches of humour to keep it light, the characters are kickass and lots of fun with fantastic dynamics, and the romance is seriously hot while still bringing the emotion. It’s all balanced brilliantly and combines to create a fantastic read. I can’t wait to continue on.
I loved it - 4 stars.

"Bloody Witches!"
The line is not from this book (see IAD series for said line) but the sentiment is shared by me. I love paranormal but I've discovered witches are closer to being my least favorite. I don't hate them but give me a vampire or shifter any day.
Luckily, there were plenty of vampire and shifter action to distract from the frustrating witch nation - those are some stubborn ass people. And Moira was so stubborn I wanted to knock her head into a wall a few times.
But I love this series...I fell for Talen in Fated. I plan to read the rest of this series on through. And while Moira tested my nerves, I love Connlan and her together. I do believe they cared for one another.
This story delivered a punch to the gut with all the double crossing and political back stabbing. Not knowing who are going to be enemies was slightly daunting but it kept me at the edge of my seat. I love the present themes of family first. And Connlan is what I love in a hero. What else should I have expected since he's a Kayrs? They're all alpha male and I eat that up like Oreos.
I'll try not wait so long between books. I missed this series and the development of the upcoming war. -
Review posted at Demon Lover's Books and More
A century ago, Moira, and Conn accidentally mated. In this series, the vampires are all males, and have only certain women they can mate with. When Conn and Moira spent a passionate night together, he accidentally marked her (think like a brand or tattoo). This is a problem because Moira is still young, and she is the Seventh. Her future position in her world doesn’t leave room for an overbearing vampire mate.
Conn never meant to mark Moira, but once it happened, he was able to admit to himself that it felt right. He wanted to be with the beautiful fiery witch fate had thrown in his path. But her family is less than thrilled. In fact, they make Conn agree to let Moira train for 100 years without his interference, so she will be prepared and fully trained in her position as the Seventh and one of the ruling members of the Nine. This is something Conn agrees to, he signs the contract, and he leaves Ireland because it’s just too hard to be in the same country as his mate, when he’s not allowed near her.
But their century is up, and Conn is ready to claim his mate.
I had issues with Moira. I felt that she kept protesting that in staying mated to Conn she would lose her identity as an Enforcer, as the Seventh, and as one of the future members of the Nine. BUT, here is my big giant problem: she never earned my respect as a reader. She worked her butt off to be respected, but then acted like a spoiled brat which IMO totally undermined her reputation. She never gave Conn the benefit of the doubt, even though she’d admit he never lied, and he’d especially never lied to her. I felt as if the conflict between them (all one-sided, mind you) was too forced.
Another problem I had was that she never once gave Conn credit for honoring the contract. She’s constantly thinking that he obviously didn’t want her because he never came to get her before their time was up. To which I wanted to shout in her face “YOU MADE HIM LEAVE YOU ALONE FOR 100 YEARS!!” Her family actually made him sign a contract enforcing their separation (all of this Moira was fully aware of).
In contrast, I really liked Conn. He was arrogant but it worked. He was one thing Moira was not-and that's flexible. He was willing to compromise. He was overly-arrogant and very alpha male, but once he realized that his mate could take care of herself, he gave her the respect she had earned. I only wish she’d seen that before the last few pages. In fact while the ending itself was good, what led up to the ending made me just as angry as it did Conn. Moira tricked and lied to him.
I think that the storm brewing with the demons and Kurjans will break loose before anyone expects. And the key players seem to be lining up. The virus affecting the mates is progressing, but so are the vampires’ scientists. Hopefully they can catch up to the Kurjans in scientific advances, because once they realize what they have planned, the vampires are going to be in a world of hurt.
I love seeing all the previous couples working together, not just as a passing nod to the character, but as an active position in the plot. Oh! And the shifter subplot? So so good! I can't wait to see what happens there!
I really liked this story, and I feel I need to emphasize that. I really like where the series arc is leading. I only wish I could differentiate my ratings from each other:
4 stars for the story, but fewer stars given to the bratty heroine.

Connlan..... *sigh* Is yummy....
Review coming soon..
But quick to Rebecca... LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Full Review:
Patience. That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Connlan Kayrs. But of course he is fierce, strong, loyal and willing to do anything for his family. But Patience is what sticks out to me the most. Why do you ask… Conn give his mate 100 years, YES 100 years to grow, not only in age, but in maturity and power. But Conn is tired of waiting for her and now has come to claim his mate. Nothing and no one will stand in his way, not even his mate.
Moria’s time has just run out. Conn is coming for her, but she still thinks she needs more time. She is not ready to be someone’s mate, especially someone who she thinks doesn’t really want her. Someone who so easily turned his back on her, someone who can possibly hurt her more than anyone other. But Moria’s time has run out and Conn is here for her.
I so loved this story. I love the world that Rebecca has created in this series. I love all the different types of characters, the complexity of it all. I am so in love with Conn & Moria.
Conn and Moria is a force to be wrecken’ with. Both are fiercely strong loyal warriors, stubborn to a fault, but above all else are willing to sacrifice themselves to save others. But their greatest battle my just be each other.
If you have read Fate & Claimed. Hunted will not disappoint. There is a lots of action, lots of emotion and even some mile high sex *wiggles eyebrows*
If you have not started Rebecca’s Dark Protector’s series. I would HIGHLY recommend you get started. -

Very well written and a lot of fun to read.
The suspense was action filled and the romance was well done.
However, both needed to be expanded and taken up a few levels.
A lot of the action is to quick.
There needed to be a bit more of the 'White Knuckled' factor added to this story.
I would love to see (read) a more heart pounding, gasp worthy, OMG!, fight scenes.
Conn and Moira had great moments and their characters were well defined.
They definitely endured some tense moments.
The romance/passion elements needed to be taken up a few notches.
It was good but not as great as I was expecting.
Considering these two characters, it needed to be bit more erotic and racy.
Don't get me wrong.
The romance element is definitely adult. But..... It needed more.
Will I read book #4
Consumed?
Oh my YES!
I truly enjoy this series and this story. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! -
This one was my least favorite book of the series so far. There were parts of the book I enjoyed, loved Conn, but was bored with the elements that made Moria's story. I lost interest and it took longer to finish than normal. I was so happy when I finished, because I was about to give up on this one (and I never, if ever give up on a book, especially one in a series). If you have to read this one, skim over all the boring parts and move on. As I look at all the glowing reviews, it looks like I am odd "girl" out on this one, but truly not one of my favorites.

MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
This wasn't the best installment, I must say. While I really enjoyed it, there were some elements that the previous books had that were missing in this one. For instance, Janie had only two scenes throughout the whole book. This really sucked for me because she is my favorite character. I wanted more of her and Zane.
Moira & Conn- Ultimately, their story didn't let me down. They were both stubborn as hell, didn't want to bend or change, and their plot line went exactly as I thought it would. I enjoyed watching them grow and learn to trust each other. They still have a long way to go though.
Katie- I cried for Katie in this book. Her whole situation just makes me sad and her injecting her self with the catalyst because she doesn't care if she lives anymore choked me up. I can't imagine being in her situation.
Kalin- Kalin surprised me the most in this book. His interest in Peggy threw me for a loop and going through his chapters made me incredibly sad. Kalin had a choice to make and he chose wrong. Now, he has sealed his fate as the villain in this story.
The Epilogue/Last Scene- The last scene in this book gave me chills. The whole set up with Kalin telling Janie the story about the scorpion had me on the edge of my seat. And Janie's perception of the whole thing (like Kalin being the stork) showed me just how brilliant she is. Though, what topped it all off was Zane at the end. Him telling Janie that he is the flood gave me goosebumps. Why does Zane think that? I NEED MORE INFO!!!
Simone- Simone surprised me. From what I had seen in the previous books, I really thought that she was snotty and jealous and a secondary/background villain. I was so happy that she turned out to be good and just misunderstood. I would love to see more of her character in the later books.
Brenna- I loved Brenna! She was in the background for the majority of this book but she always grabbed my attention when she was in a scene. I really hope she is a major character in the future books and I would love to see her get a love story!
Garrett- WE HAVE A NEW KAYRS BABY! I AM SO EXCITED AND I LOVE HIM ALREADY!
What I Didn't Like- The pacing felt really off to me. It was weird and the whole story moved really different. I had a hard time staying entertained with the story.
Overall, this was a good book. It wasn't the best in the series, but that certainly isn't going to stop me from continuing on. I can't wait to read the next book! -

100 years ago Moira was accidentally marked by the vampire warrior Conlan in a burst of passion so bright it nearly made her weep. After Con disappeared Moira found it easy to convince herself that he never wanted her and wouldn’t be coming back for a mate he never intended on having. The war between vampires and Kurjans is heating up and suddenly Con is back in Moira’s life. He claims for good but Moira is the seventh sister to the seventh sister and is a powerful witch now. She doesn’t need a possessive overbearing mate screwing with her life.
Leaving Moira so many years ago was the hardest thing Con has ever done. Except maybe staying gone all those years. He knew she needed time to learn and hone her powers but Con desperately wanting to go back. Now that the war is upon him and his brothers, a mate disease is running rampant and the witches are being threatened, Con can finally go claim what is rightfully his. Not a moment to soon either because someone has their sights set on Moira and no one close to her is exactly what they seem.
*Le sigh* I. Love. This. Series. So. Much! Rebecca Zanetti is a friggin genius and if I lived in her state I’d be her new bestie. Ok…wait…that sounds stalkerish. Let’s start over. I love this series and it just keeps getting better and better! I think Zanetti is hitting her stride and I for one hope she can keep up the steam.
Conlan and Moira have been brewing a long time. There has been hints of Con’s past within the last books and when I heard Hunted would be his book I was ecstatic! Zanetti didn’t let me down either. I fell in love with Con and Moira on page one. Moira with her feisty and “I can handle everything” attitude and Con always wanting to protect his very capable mate. ALPHA – you know me people…love them. Love them like whoa!
The connection I felt between Con and Moira was rivaled only by the connection I felt to the entire book. I absolutely adored this book from beginning to end. Moira felt the weight of the world being the seventh sister in her coven. Her power level was off the charts and I thought that since she mated (even accidentally) with a vampire, it was a cool twist that they ended up sharing some of their powers with each other. It was a unique twist and I do love twists. Con was about as masculine as he could be, which I expected, but I enjoyed the heat level between him and Moira. Even at the beginning when Moira was fighting her attraction you could just tell she still had feelings for him after all those years. Con’s guilt at leaving her for 100 years was necessary but his insistence that he didn’t want to, that it was hard on him, was so sweet.
The science behind the usage of witch powers is both unique and well thought out. I liked the explanations of the application of physics in doing magic and even though I don’t understand a lot of it (I’m a DUH science type person. As in duhhhhhhhhhhh what?) I thought Zanetti’s explanations were so completely different then the standard “shes’s a witch, she does magic” that it really makes this series stand out from other paranormal romance series.
I enjoyed the continuation of the big picture story ARC with the war between, well most everyone, and the Kurjans. The brief looks in on the Kalin and his grisly outlook was very entertaining. To be so young (teenager) and so filled with such hate, it made me shudder. I wonder though, Kalin has brief glimpses of humanity, and what will that mean for the future. Though the feelings never stay, I wonder if being around Janie, the sweet seer child, might be rubbing off on him in some way. Since Janie, Kalin and Janie’s friend Kane are supposedly supposed to be the key players in the coming war, I wonder what the outcome will be. I truly believe Kalin isn’t all bad but has only been molded that way and still can see right and wrong in some degree.
Hunted is an exciting continuation of a story I love! When I finish each book I feel sad and anxious for the next one to come out and that is a mark of an excellent series for this reader. Zanetti weaves an enchanting story with Hunted that is sure to please paranormal romance lovers everywhere!
I give Hunted by Rebecca Zanetti 5 stars! -
When a one night stand a century ago resulted in Conn accidentally marking and mating a young and naïve Moira, all hell almost broke loose. Hot, sexy alpha vampire finally has come to claim his woman after 100 years of allowing her time to find herself... Moira gets on my nerves more than once with her "you're not my boss", or the "I can't be with you, who cares if we are mated," and her "I feel abandoned cause he left me," bull$£!+. No matter that they are mated, something she knows the importance and significance of. Connlan Kayrs is one of the vampire brothers. He is known as one of the best warriors of the clan. He is one of the younger brothers, but not the youngest. But he was one of the first to mate. She wanted to be an independent, strong enforcer for the Coven Nine (witch council), but she was pissed at the hero Conn for not fully claiming her as his mate for 100 years. At the request of his mate and witch coven The Coven of Nine Connlan Kayrs signed a treaty to leave his mate in Ireland with the Nine for one century. Well that century just expired and nothing short of death will stop con from collecting his mate and bringing her to safety. The war with the Realm has just heated up, with the Demons now joining in the fight against the Vampire Realm. Not to mention the Coven of Nine on the verge of withdrawing Conn cannot wait any longer to retrieve his mate and bring her home to safety.
The ultimate second-chance romance - Conn and Moira... 100 years later! We’ve seen glimpses of Conn and Moira’s story in the two previous books of the series, and I have been so excited to get to this one! "Bloody Witches!" The line is not from this book but the sentiment is shared by me. I love paranormal but I've discovered witches are closer to being my least favorite. I don't hate them but give me a vampire or shifter any day. Good and definitely worth reading. Overall I really liked this book but I had a couple issues with the heroine. She is a witch and on a whole I don't really dig reading about witches, but I have to admit she had some super cool power and I like the scientific angle RZ took with describing their power. But my biggest issue with Moira was her inability to take what she wanted. There's really no reason to rehash the very accurate synopsis. Conn utilized his stoic countenance well as it was so fitting for this installment. Moira was a delight, I liked that she was not only strong but a warrior in her own right. The villains were diabolical enough for entertainment and the new elements introduced to the fight were interesting and threatening enough.
“Yes.” Cara wrinkled her face in pain, clutching her stomach. “Of course it does. What else could go wrong? We might as well be trapped in an elevator. You know ... just in time for labor.” The woman was babbling.
Moira didn’t know a thing about delivering a baby. Especially in a basement. Or cave. Or wherever the hell they were. “Deep breaths. Take deep breaths.”
Cara batted her away. “Go figure out how to get us out of here. You’re the Seventh, for cripes’ sakes.”
The cranky woman now in labor had a point.
”You’re it for me Moira. I’m keeping you.”
“It was coming down to more than what she wanted to do for a living. The decisions she faced would determine who she became.”
“Make no mistake, you and I remain solid even if the rest of the world blows up.” -
4 to 4 1/2 stars
Enjoyed Moira and Conn's tale/romance and really liked that they were both stubborn, intelligent, kickass individuals and also such a powerful team when they combined forces!
This series, its ongoing, unfolding storyline(s), and large cast of characters is definitely growing on me and getting better and more compelling as I go.
I'm now in the space where I'm looking forward to reading more and discovering what's to come.
Was definitely intrigued by the epilogue.
The final line had my brain totally churning with questions and wanting more... -
Each book in this series just gets better and better in my opinion. Just when I think 'so and so' is my favorite character or couple, I fall in love with the next pair too. And at this moment, I'm not even eager for a specific character to have his/her turn next because I like the possibility of each one who is left unmated. Heck, I'm even vested in Kalin.
This was the story of Connlin Kayrs and Moira Dunne. A hundred years before, Conn accidentally marked Moira as his mate in an unguarded moment of passion. To appease the coven elders and to give Moira a chance to train and get used to the situation, he agrees to a promise where he will give her one hundred years before he comes to claim her. Conn is a warrior and goes back to what he does best all the while counting down the days until he can claim his beautiful witch mate. Moira uses the time to train both her skills as a witch and as a coven enforcer. She assumes that Conn made the decision lightly to leave her be and that he was relieved to be rid of her. This belief pains her and even his reappearance doesn't ease her into believing that he truly wants her.
Conn's return comes at a bad time for Moira. She has big secrets from him and a job to do, but she seriously under estimated him. While he might not know her, she sure is discovering that she didn't know him either.
The war between the Realm Vampires and their allies and the Kurjan vamps and their allies is spilling over into other races. Groups within races are forced to take sides and some are determined to re-align their loyalties. Betrayal from within threatens to destroy more than the actual war. The disease affecting the mates and the weres is still wrecking havoc with no hint of a cure. Coven Council members are disappearing at an alarming rate and the witches greatest weakness has been discovered.
Against this backdrop, Conn sets out to show Moira that she is his and they belong together. He partners with her on her missions and then brings her to his home knowing that if the witches align with the demons she may be ordered to spy on his people and even kill him. This more than anything else proves to Moira that Conn is serious about them, but when his life is in grave danger she realizes how she really feels about him and can only hope that he survives long enough for them to have something together.
The story follows several story threads jumping between several narrators though Conn and Moira are the most frequent. The plot is action and passion. Conn, like the rest of the Kayrs' men is alpha to the core, but he's not a jerk. He has to adjust to the mature and capable female his mate has become, but he's not unreasonable. Moira is a strong witch with kick-butt fighting ability. She's determined to do her part and do her duty. She's constantly placing duty first because she prefers control and is scared to death of a committed relationship with Conn. I only had one niggle about Moira. I really hated all the lies. I get that she had to keep secrets about her race, but I wish she would have just said so instead of lying. It was one of the books highlights for me when Conn called her on it. She tried to say it goes both ways and he slammed her when he made it clear that he had never lied to her. Go Conn! They were great together once things started to gel. Conn brought some real heat and intensity when they came together and totally overwhelmed Moira taking all the fight right out of her.
So, all in all this was a superb installment in the series and I can't wait to see what happens next. -

Guilty Pleasures
Being the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter is a big job, and yet for Moira Dunne it is just another thing to add to her plate. Right now nothing is bothering her more than her mate, Conn. Not only were they mated unexpectedly, but he has been out of the picture for a century and yet now here he stands in front of her demanding that she come with him to the states. If this man didn’t make her blood boil with lust than she would probably kill him. There are so many secrets lying between these two that it will take a lot of magic, trust and a few fresh starts for anything positive to happen in this romance. Will Moira be able to open up to Conn in time to let him see she still cares for him, or will his original desertion be enough to close the door to her heart for him forever?
Connlan “Conn” Kayrs is a bad ass soldier of the vampire army and a brother to the King of his kind, but none of that matters when he can’t be away from his mate another moment. Conn wasn’t ready to be mated when it just happened during one of the hottest nights of his life with Moira, and when the light of day happened he was glad to give her space to grow in her powers and into the woman who could be at his side for eternity. A century sounded good at the time, but now it feels like he has missed so much of her life, and will have a lot of ground to make up with Moira if he has a chance of getting the woman to stay with him. With the mating sign, and his own natural protectiveness kicking in, Conn is going to have a hard time controlling himself when Moira is anywhere near him, but all control is shot to hell when Moira is kidnapped and only he can find her before it is too late. Will his love be enough to sustain the two of them until she can fall for him too, or will Conn lose more than just his control over Moira?
What a wonderful story with such great rich characters that drew me in effortlessly. While not knowing that this book is actually a part of a series, some of the ground work beginning chapters were a bit difficult to understand (and at times made me want to not read anymore) but once the meat of the story started I was enthralled with how things were going to end and if Moira and Conn would end up together. Rebecca Zanetti is a new to me author, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I am officially hooked! This may just be a series to buy in paperback! If you are looking for a good paranormal book that will keep you guessing from the beginning to the end than this is the book for you. I would suggest looking for the first in the series so that each of the characters stories make more sense by the time you get to this one though. Rebecca Zanetti is an author to watch out for for sure. -
My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at

Connlan Kayrs is one of the vampire brothers. He is known as one of the best warriors of the clan. He is one of the younger brothers, but not the youngest. But he was one of the first to mate. He mated a very power, if young witch. He signed a treaty with the coven to allow her to stay with coven for 100 years to work on her skill. She is supposed to lead the council one day and she needs time to prepare. So, he has been true to his word and stayed a continent away while she did whatever the council needed her to do while she built her skill. It was not an easy time for him.
Moira is the seventh sister of the seventh sister. What this means is that she has a lot of power. Especially for a witch of her age. She is still relatively young in witch years, even at over a century old. She has been working and training as an enforcer for the Coven Nine, the governing body of the witches. She likes her job as an enforcer. This is not something Conn will like when he discovers it.
This is a series that I’ve continued to enjoy. While I’ve liked the romances in series, it has been the overall story arc and the characters that have really pulled me into these stories. The war between the vampires and the Kurjans. The difficulties building with the demons. There are troubles in the Coven Nine. Let’s not forget the shifters. Then there is Janie, the five year with a really strong forsite from the first book. She has a building story that really has me intrigued. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t that the romance in these stories aren’t good, they are. It is just, for me, that the other parts of the story are way more interesting. I do enjoy the romances. They are hot and well written. I just like the suspense parts much more. It leaves me wanting more of the story. You can bet that I’ll be checking out the next book in this series.
Narration
Karen White nails it again. Moira has an Irish brogue and she did a great job with it. She does really well with the males and female voices. I love the voice that she does for Janie, the five year old. I can always tell who is talking based on the voice she is using. She is one of my favorite narrators and she continues to prove that she is fit for that title for me. I highly recommend her narration if you haven’t tried her yet.
