  As readers of my reviews or searchers of my book shelves will know I have a soft spot for artwork books and concept books. This book is very much right in the middle of that group. It is the artwork for the Dreamwork movie of the same name. It consists of concept work, design work and production images from the film and it is glorious.
  
  I will admit I have not seen this film from the Shrek franchise however knowing the series I think the book captures the fun and energy and sheer creativity from the series. To me it captures the whole essence of fun and mischief of being allowed to play in the world of fairy tales and fables. This book is a delight to read and one I can see quite a few people wanting to borrow.

  This art book is wonderfully whimsical, just like the crazy fairytale world created by DreamWorks. It also made me realize one thing. The only thing cuter than Puss in Boots is kitten Puss in Boots.
  
  The first image that blew me away is on page 2. It's the one with Puss and Humpty Alexander Dumpty (awesome name) lying on the grass on a lazy afternoon, looking at a giant goose made of cloud floating so casually in the sky. It's a beautiful yet simple image that says so much about the friendship between a cat and an egg.
  
  The concept art in this book are not just stunning, they tell stories.
  
  DreamWorks have given classic fairytales more twists than imaginable. All these are told in beautifully composed scene paintings, filled with so much details inviting you to investigate further. You can marvel at the Mexican and Spanish inspired neighbourhood Puss and Humpty grew up it, check out the bars and the amusing wanted posters, find out the secrets of fairytale characters and more.
  
  There are lots of character designs, location drawings, and interesting commentary from the artists. Sketches, colourscripts, storyboards, but the best are the scene paintings. The other piece which I like is one of Humpty in prison with his shell defaced with childish graffiti. That's a heart wrenching scene and the artist totally nailed it.
  
  This is a fun and entertaining book with well executed ideas. Highly recommended.

  منذ طفولتي حينما قرأت قصة "الهر أبو الجزمة" -التي قدمتها لنا سلسلة الحكايات المحبوبة- وأنا واقعة في حب هذه الشخصية.
  في القصة أحببت وفاءه لصاحبه وكيف ساعده ليحظى بالسعادة، ثم أحببته أكثر حينما ألتقيت به لاحقا في فيلم Shrek
  كنت اتسائل دائما هل مل حياة القصر لاحقا وقرر ترك صاحبه أم أنه بقي معه حتى النهاية؟
  وبالرغم من كون فيلم شريك كان يحوي الشخصيات الخيالية إلا أنني لم أتوقع مطلقا رؤية قطي المفضل ثانية خارج إطار قصته، لقد كانت مفاجئة رائعة لي أن أرإه وإن كانت مساحة دوره نوعا ما صغيرة.
  كنت سعيدة للغاية برؤية فيلم له، سعيدة لأنه بدا كما تخيلته تماما دائما مغامرا بطلا حرا يحلق في كل اتجاه لا يمكنه الاستقرار في مكان واحد.
  حينما شاهدت الفيلم عزمت على شراء الكتاب وقدرت في داخلي أنني بإذن الله لن أندم وهذا ماحدث فقد ترك الكتاب انطباعا حسنا في داخلي سواء من ناحية كمية الصور او الشرح والتقسيم المتعلق بالمناطق المختلفة في الفيلم أو المعلومات المعروضة.
  أنصح به لعشاق الشخصية ومن شاهد الفيلم واستمتع.

  doesn't seem to break down the art style, but feels more like some random concepts and screenshots thrown together. also almost no sketches included
