It took me a while to get into this book, but found that I enjoyed it very much. The ending was very powerful. I loved the author's descriptions of his emotions about his family, his friends, and his country. All very poignant. A must read for all French students, and those who want to know more about African cultures.

L'auteur nous raconte ses souvenirs d'enfance en Haute-Guinée dans les années 40. L'histoire est linéaire, pas de rebondissements, d'histoire tarabiscotée, etc, mais j'ai adoré découvrir ce témoignage sur des coutumes qui sont probablement en voie de disparition. Une chouette lecture.
