The Pharaoh's Amulet (Harry Fox #6) Reviews

The Pharaoh’s Amulet was an entertaining and interesting book to read. It can be read as a standalone novel; and it is a fully developed and well-written book, so it will take a while for you to read. The author has an exceptional ability to write action scenes, an ability which was displayed in the opening chapters of the book. All of the descriptive action introduces readers to Harry Fox, a primary character in the Harry Fox archeological thriller series. Because there are multiple story lines in the book, the next chapters tell about Harry Fox’s family, friends, and enemies interacting with each other in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York City. The characters are multi-dimensional. They are introduced through dialogue and through their actions with each other. There is good descriptive writing of the scenes in New York. The action really picks up again in the last half of the book, when Harry finally gets to travel to Egypt to unravel an ancient Egyptian secret that involves an amulet given to Harry from his deceased father (more about this is revealed in the book). Actually, there are two amulets in the story; both help uncover the mysteries. There are cyphers to interpret, clues to follow that lead to hidden locations, and death traps to avoid in a chase to uncover the messages of Anthony and Cleopatra. There is an astonishing surprise discovery at the end. I especially enjoyed the story, within this part of the book, about the Library in Alexandria. The writing is done in a style that is unique to this author; I feel that I could identify his book by the writing. He sometimes writes in “sentences” that are one or two words long and incomplete. These help the reader understand what a character is thinking in their head. The dialogue is distinctly characteristic of the age and role of the characters. There is a well-written ending and epilogue. Also, I appreciated that the author wrote an explanation at the end of the book that described what was factual about the archaeology and what was fictional about the story. I read an ARC copy of the book. I am voluntarily leaving an unsolicited review of the book. Locations: [New York City: Brooklyn, Manhattan; Egypt: Alexandria, Dendera, Luxor, Karnak]

I love these books! I love the history in each one, the excitement. On top of that the characters are people you fall in love with.

Oh My Giddy Aunt. Now this is a humdinger of action, revelations and undiscovered secrets and I haven't even got to the Archaeological discovery in my review!

This is book six in the Harry Fox series but can easily be read as a standalone.

After Harry received his fathers amulet over a year ago, he has never taken it off but recently he discovered a second amulet belonging to his DEA colleagues mother.
Harry enlists the help of his partner geologists and historian Sara to discover what has been written on them.
The amulets thought to have belonged to Anthony and Cleopatra hold a great secret and it's up to Harry and Sara to discover the truth.

This will take Harry and Sara to Egypt and the underwater city of Alexandria.

But Harry being Harry he has a few lose ends to tie up in Brooklyn before he leaves which involves taken down the head of the Albanian mafia boss! Easy right!

There is such much action and adventure in this book but the author Andrew still has time to incorporate history and facts throughout.

This is the sixth book in the Harry Fox Historical/Adventure Series and the one all Harry Fox fans have been waiting for. The finale to the plot line woven through the first five stories. The Pharaoh’s Amulet will finally reveal the truth behind Anthony and Cleopatra’s Amulets and the incredible secret they would ultimately reveal. Questions like why his father gave him his Amulet? Why his mother faked her own death and abandoned him? What’s his secret weapon to save his friend Joey and avoid a mob war? And, ultimately, will he get the girl? Are all revealed. This is a great read and a fitting finale to the arch threaded through the first five adventures. It will tease you about what’s ahead but leave you wondering what Harry Fox will be up to next. An obvious must read.

After all this time we finally understand how Harry Fox’s golden amulet fits into the mystery of his past and future. How it helps unlock answers he has asked for most of his life. A long lost loved one reappears, only to set him off on another adventure! What relic will Mr. Fox go searching for next?

This anxiously awaited installment didn’t disappoint, all the same nail-biting suspense, unexpected twist and turns, and great cliffhangers (literally). So glad there is one more book on the way!

Adventures and intrigue, puzzles to solve and clues to follow about in this newest Harry Fox read. I enjoyed read his and Sara's latest journeys into history and the sometimes shady places they find themselves. This has been a great series.

  • Tom Casey

Is this the final chapter for Harry, will the truth finally be revealed? Will Sara stay or go.
So many questions are answered in the exciting read.
This has been an exceptional series and this book continues the excitement.
This has to be on your must read series.
I received this arc for free and I wanted to leave an honest review.

Another good Harry Fox story, just when I was gutted to think it would be the last one the author has left it open. Fingers crossed we will see more of Harry and co.

What an outstanding story! From the first page this book captures you and keeps you turning pages right through to the end. Full disclosure…I got an advance copy for review. BUT WOW…I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of the Harry Fox adventures and this one did not disappoint. I won’t put spoilers in here but will say that the reader may find answers to some questions while joining Harry and Sara on a thrilling ride through history. And if you enjoy history, be sure to read the authors notes when you finish the story. Best yet Mr Clawson!
