My monster. My hunter. My husband. It all started with a chance meeting in a bar that was almost normal. I was drowning my sorrows, and he was the deadly handsome mysterious stranger who walked in. He had that dangerous air about him I was always warned to stay away from, yet like a moth to a flame I was captivated by his charm. All it took was one touch and I couldn't resist. When I’m with him he consumes me and our passion is enthralling. Little did I know that behind Malik Volkova’s fairytale prince smile lurks a monster. A monster who belongs to the Knights, a notorious secret society. And we only met because he was actually hunting me. By the time I find out who he really is, it’s too late, and he unearthed my biggest secret. Out for revenge on the cartel he forces me into a twisted arrangement for my hand in marriage. But our union drags me into a war and deeper into his obsession. Soon it becomes clear there’s something he wants more than revenge—me. But I’m not sure if he’ll be my destruction or my savior. Hunter’s Revenge is a dark mafia enemies-to-lovers arranged marriage romance, which is book 3 of the Savage Legacy series.
This book is a 120K word standalone romance that contains dark themes, dubious situations, mature content, and graphic violence some readers might find offensive and/or triggering.

After the last book I read, this isn’t what I wished.
    Unfortunately.

"Like Hades in his Underworld, my darkness would steal the light and life from her world."

Malik & Gwen's story was captivating! With unpredictable twists and turns, some great chemistry and solid side characters, this book was a delight! I won't spoil much about the story because it will ruin the experience for those who are going to read it for the first time but this is a secret society/forced marriage romance with lots of action. I haven't read any other books in the series because the premise of this one appealed the most to me but I am definitely going to read more by this author!

    Plot Summary :
Gwen's whole life has been uprooted. The one person she thought she could trust has left her in a quarrel and she has now left. That is until she meets Malik. At first he seems like a charming guy who makes her heart race but little does she know that beneath that face lurks a monster who has his own aims in mind and won't hesitate to use her for them. And when he gets her into an even bigger mess , she has no choice to play. He is now her husband and the one she has to stay with. If only he did not make her heart race like he always did. It was the one thing that got her into this trouble and it seems like her husband won't let her go until she is completely destroyed.

    Overall Opinion :
This author never fails to impress me! I got hooked on her books right when she was a new author and there was just something about her mafia Romances and their plotlines. Not to mention that all her heroes are just just broody mafia men that I cannot help but love. Which is why I blindly sign up for all her books lmao , I just can't miss a single one 🤣

This is a standalone about Gwen and Malik. Malik is back from prison to take revenge from the ones who wronged him and he would not hesitate to use the pretty girl in front of him. Gwen might be the key to his revenge , then why is he protecting her? Soon she becomes everything to him and now he has to decide if his revenge is as important as saving the woman he has come to love .

Definitely recommending this one to all the dark romance loving people out there!

    5/5 ⭐
    3/5 🌶️

I have loved this whole series and this may be my favorite yet. Malik and Gwen we're so freaking good together and the story itself was incredible. I ended up finishing staying up until after 2am to finish because S hit the fan and no way was I putting it down!

I really love when an enemies to lovers trope starts off on friendly terms. There's really nothing like it when they turn on each other and yet still can't get enough. It makes the spice and the back and forth just so so good. Gwen's bratty sass was everything too, Malik was such a jerk after she discovered his true intentions, but I loved when he ordered her around (and so did she). The spice was really hot and heavy for the first half of the book, and slowed down and made way for the plot about halfway through.

There was a ton of suspense and action in this one with a couple twists and turns that had me picking my jaw up off the floor. I really, really loved this entire storyline and found it so intriguing. It had me hooked from the start and captivated until the very last page.

I'm not sure if this was the last we've seen of the Volkova brothers or not, but everything was wrapped up beautifully in the epilogues. I am rooting for Leo's story and maybe even Dru's, but I'm also quite content with how this series played out if this was the end. I'll just have to start from the beginning again *heart eyes*

    Good

I didn't read the others in the series, but I definitely didn't need to. This was a good read, but it needed something, but nevertheless, it was still good.

    It wasn't great.

What a wild and crazy ride! This book was everything you could hope for in a dark romance. It was steamy, hot, twisted and dangerous! I absolutely loved Gwen and couldn’t put this book down!

Gwen is such a strong character. She has grown up hidden away from her father's family, carrying this secret close to her heart. We we meet her, she has dreams to open chain stores with her best friend Dru, selling lingerie lines, but they are met with the resistance of circumstance. Gwen has financial troubles due to her ex and she is the main caretaker of the only living relative she has left, her Grams. Even when things appear to crumble around her, Gwen still maintains a good head on her shoulders, a sassy attitude, and a big heart. She also carries an innocence with her, never having been exposed to the seedier parts of the cartel/mafia world, and is just a person who wants to live her dreams.

Malik is the youngest of the Volkov brothers. We learn he has been tortured for close to a year and is now seeking revenge, not only for himself, but also for a good friend he lost in the crossfire. He is smart and calculating and while he claims to be an unfeeling devil inside who can be ruthless and exacting to his enemies, deep down he has a good heart and will go to lengths to protect those he cares for and provide for them. He also doesn't easily trust others, but finds an unbreakable bond with his brothers Zakh and Desemier, along with a few members of his staff. Malik also is empathetic even though he can be selfish at times, and will try to do what's right.

These two! Even in the opening pages of the first "meeting", we can feel the romantic tension and sizzling chemistry between them. This is further proven with their first actual meeting and continues to shine through throughout the story. While Malik is somewhat closed off and at first seeks out Gwen with an ulterior motive, he also never lies to her and time and again tries to show her what transpires between them is real (there was one moment I thought an apology could be had, but that's just me lol and Malik proves he'd move heaven and earth for Gwen). He even admits to himself that she should be treated as nothing less than a queen, and while he forces her into situations, we see that even before that, they have growing feelings for each other and it didn't seem manipulative. Gwen also wants to show Malik that he isn't at all dead inside and continually searches through him, bit by bit bringing out different sides to him. She also does well when confronted with certain situations and makes Malik appear all that more human. These two are definitely a couple you cheer for.

We also see the return of Desemier and Zakh, the main males leads in Books 1 and 2, and not to spoil anything, but I have to say Zakh reminded me/made up for some of my impressions of him in his book. I don't think you need to read their books to fully understand the events of this one, but I think it would be helpful if you want to know more about these characters and potentially the structure of the Knights (the author does provide a quick rundown in this book though, so you are not completely lost). We also see appearances from these brother's respective wives, Anastasia and Lorelei. Additionally, we have the addition of a cute and trusty pup, Sebastian, that adds some comedic relief for Gwen and Malik but also adds to how down to earth Gwen is. We also have Dru, Gwen's bestie who would do anything for her, and Jeanne, one of the few people that Malik trusts and also plays a large role for our couple.

Along with the romance and interesting characters, we have a suspenseful plot brimming with plot twists galore. As soon as one thing settles, another thing pops up like daisies! And they were definitely unexpected. I think I was mind blown with some of them and internally gasped. The author did a great job here with the pacing and keeping us on our toes. Overall, I did find myself constantly wiggling my toes, anticipating what would happen next, whether it was between Gwen and Malik, or with the other events happening around them.

Indeed, this was a very engaging read and probably now a favorite of mine from this author. I look forward to seeing what's next!

This book was actually a good read. The suspense, action, and twists were great. Full of lies, betrayals, and revenge. Overall the plot was great even the writing style, I never got bored while reading this third book in the series. Some spoilers below so read at your own risk 🙂

So why the 3 star rating? I would've rated this 4 ⭐ honestly if Gwen had learned to grow a backbone. They do this dance of arguing one minute then fucking like animals another hot minute, rinse and repeat. I would've wish for her to hold her ground when Malik's being controlling and when he keeps ordering her around. I know he's an alpha and not a major asshole, thank God! But the problem was she knows what to do to avoid being hurt. Yet when he's around, the body betraying syndrome is always on point and I'm really tired of this trope. There are scenes where they argued and should've communicated yet decided to screw around instead. This happened a lot and I just want to smack her for being spineless and always giving in in lust.

Gwen's a good person who really cares deeply about the people around her. Her attempts giving a tongue lashing at those who kidnapped her was pathetic at best (according to her POV as well). But I'll give credit for her sacrificing herself to save her friend. She's also talented and deserves the success of her lingerie store. She's been through a lot growing up yet she never fails to work hard to achieve her dreams.

Malik, well I have to say he's just like his brothers. They were over the top obsessed and possessive with their wives. At the start he was a manipulative asshole but he surely redeemed himself afterwards. Though there was a scene where he asked her how many guys she'd been with after her douchebag ex-boyfriend, which honestly pissed me off so much. It's so sexist and hypocritical of him asking that when he had his own share of women. Gwen never asked him about his history, nevertheless she already assumed he attracts women a lot. Malik wasn't portrayed as a manwhore but he's definitely not a freaking saint and Gwen has been with one man only, talk about inequality. Anyway, he fell hard for her and tried to fight off his feelings but never succeeded. Malik is very much like Gwen when it comes to protecting the people around them or whom they care for. He won't hesitate putting himself in danger to defend them or plan a revenge for them. It's painful reading how he was betrayed, most especially by someone who he respects so much. I definitely didn't see that twist coming.

Again, I liked the story but some decisions the MCs made here kind of ruined my rating. I know Malik's concerns were founded. After what they went through I knew without a doubt the fear for her safety would get in his head. Still, I never thought he'll choose to let her go. That 4 month separation was a waste of time, cuz they were both miserable and missing each other. On the other hand, maybe they needed that time as well to really think things through and get their heads straight. I don't know, I still preferred it that they work things out together instead of apart.

This was partly a safe read:
    - No cheating (between MCs)
    - Slight OW drama (but not really, it was all just wrong assumption from Gwen's side)
    - Violence
    - Separation between MCs.

I love Ms. Summers/Ms. Gray's books. She's one of my go to authors when it comes to mafia romances. I really like her writing style, the flow of her stories, and her characters they each have a unique personality.

I'll still definitely recommend this book, along with the first two in this series (Desmier and Zakh)

HUNTER’S REVENGE is the third instalment in Faith Summers’ contemporary, adult SAVAGE LEGACY dark, erotic, Bratva romance series. This is twenty-eight year old Malik Volkova, and twenty-three year old, lingerie designer Gwen St. James’ story line. HUNTER’S REVENGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Gwen and Malik) HUNTER’S REVENGE follows Malik Volkova as he seeks revenge for the death of his Navy Captain, his best friend, and a year imprisoned by the Mexican Cartel. Six years earlier, US Navy Lieutenant Malik Volkova was taken prisoner in Kazakhstan, where he endured twelve months of torture at the hands of his captors but Malik would later discover the attack had been orchestrated by Manolo Navarro, the leader of the Navarro Cartel, and our hero is determined to take his revenge. Fast forward to present day wherein Malik will uncover the existence of Manolo’s heir, a young woman who is oblivious to what is about to befall her future. Enter twenty-three year old Gwen St. James, a lingerie designer, and the woman Malik is hoping to break, before she dies. Malik Volkova was control of the Navarro Mexican Cartel, and his direct line to power, is to marry the woman with whom he will fall in love. Malik is determined to take control of the Cartel but never thought Gwen would take control of his heart. What ensues is the building but contemptuous relationship between Gwen and Malik, and the potential fall-out as Gwen becomes a pawn in a game between Malik, and the nightmares from his past.

The relationship between Gwen and Malik is one of force proximity. Malik Volkova is desperate to destroy the Navarro Cartel, and in doing so, take control of a billion dollar enterprise but to do so mean to take control of Manolo Navarro’s only heir, a young woman who wants nothing to do with her heritage or her birthright.Taking control of Gwen means destroying a little bit of our heroine’s heart, a heart that will be broken when Malik pushes Gwen out of his life. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and provocative but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story line, although only used twice, more for shock and mature reader rating.

The colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters include Malik’s brother and their wives: Desmier and Anastasia (Devil’s Kiss), Zakh and Lorelai (Villain’s Obsession); guards Yuri and Vladmir; maid Kelly; housekeeper/ cook Jeanne; and Gwen’s business partner and friend Dru. The requisite evil has many faces.

HUNTER’S REVENGE is a story of greed, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is detailed, complex and captivating; the romance is seductive and dramatic; the characters are desperate, determined and dynamic.

    description

I was happy when I received an ARC copy of this book because I am in my mafia romance era, plus she is a new-to-me author. Plus I liked the premise of him trying to find the secret love child of a dead cartel boss so that he can take over and get revenge, and her being the secret love child...it is a story that sells itself. I was really getting into the story in the first few chapters...then I hit a roadblock. Some chapters had disjointed writing that didn't match or flow like other chapters. And ultimately this became the book that took me the longest to read. I didn't want to DNF it, but I had to skip pages just to finish it.

Don't get me wrong, the writing overall was good, but it felt dragged out. If I have to pinpoint a place where it went downhill for me, it would be the first smack scene in the bar. It was wam-bam thank-you mam at its height. There was no buildup and it was jackhammering till the end.

The other thing that was disappointing was there was no character development or a connection development between Malik and Gwen. Malik is supposed to be a broody type hell-bent on revenge and only revenge. But that broodiness didn't translate through. There wasn't any push-pull between them. Grew felt one-dimensional to me with so many missed opportunities to fully developed her.

Sadly, although the premise is good and the book can be read as a stand-alone in a series, I would not be able to recommend this book to others.

Khardine (AKA Faith) never seizes to amaze me with her phenomenal mafia books! And Hunter’s Revenge is another 5⭐️ in the Savage Legacy series!
Malik and Gwen’s story is a wild ride with action, secrets, betrayal, a little heartache and a lot of steamy and spicy scenes.
All Gwen was supposed to be was part of Malik’s revenge plot. After his captain in the Navy, and best friends dad, was killed, the same men took Malik and held him captive for a year. He vowed every day since getting rescued he’d get his retribution. Part of that plan is finding the long lost daughter of a Mexican cartel king. What he isn’t planning on is his instant attraction to her.
Gwen has been kept a secret her entire life, she’s lost a lot and has been betrayed. While drowning her sorrows away, she meets Malik. She knows she should stay away from him, but she can’t. And when a threat escalates, and he comes to her rescue she has no idea how quickly things are about to change for her!
I loved Gwen, she was feisty and spoke her mind. When she felt threatened and was jealous she wasn’t about to keep her mouth shut, I loved that. I only wished Malik had been the one to stop the way Kelly was with him.
This was definitely a great and addicting read, I couldn’t put it down. And just when you think you know what’s going on a HUGE bombshell revelation is dropped! One I definitely didn’t see coming!

Hunter's Revenge by Faith Summers is a dark romance and captivates me from the first chapter. This book took me on an exciting ride with action, mystery, and suspense. I love the characters and the world Faith Summers created; they are complex and have depth. The story had me on the edge of my seat with the action and suspense. The spice in the book will have you fanning yourself from all the heat. The world she created was beautifully detailed and well thought out. Hunter's Revenge touches on topics that might be triggering. Please read with caution.

Malik is charming, dangerous, and possessive. He's out to get what he deserves; he will do anything to accomplish that. Gwen is beautiful, smart, and creative. I loved her determination to try to fix things. I really felt for both characters. Both were broken in their own ways and looking for something to help them heal. The angst, push, and pull that Gwen and Malik created was explosive on the pages. I enjoyed reading those scenes😉.

This book was captivating and exciting to read. Faith Summers always checks of my boxes when writing her dark romance books. If you enjoy authors like Vi Carter, you will enjoy Faith Summers.- Brooke

Malik is the youngest brother in the Volkova family. Malik was in the Navy, kidnapped, tortured, and abused. Although he was rescued, he was out for revenge for the people who had not only kidnapped him, but had killed a man he admired and looked up to. Gwen was someone who cared about others before she cared about herself. She was always thinking of everyone else first and how her actions would affect them. She had a huge secret and didn’t want that secret to come back and hurt anyone.

Malik and Gwen meet up at a bar randomly (or was it???!!). How does Gwen fit into Malik’s revenge? And how will Gwen feel when she realizes the one man, she thought she could trust, betrays her like everyone else? Drama, passion, a few twists, and turns, and one hot looking alpha male will make it very hard to put this book down!

As always, I love Faith Summer’s books and can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a dark romance, so some topics may be triggering for others.

Gwen St. James has been hiding her identity, or at least a part of it, for her whole life. Malik Volkova is searching for one woman so he can gain power and get revenge for something that happened to him in his past. They have a chance encounter and Milk discovers who she really is. He forces her into marriage, never intending anything to happen other than the title he gains from being married to her.

Okay, there was one thing that happened in the beginning that I really hated. It was minor, but I almost put the book down because of it. Anyway, I pushed through and I’m glad I did! The book was great. Malik was such a broody man, but when he fell in love with his wife, he did anything he could to keep her safe. There were also twists that I was not expecting. Toward the end, he seemed like a completely different character though. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book!

This is an excellent friendship to lovers to enemies to lovers romance. Malik and Gwen are amazing characters. Malik's life revolves around getting revenge for the loss of so many of his closest loved ones. This plan included taking advantage of Gwen and the secret she has held onto for all of her life. Malik forces Gwen to marry him for only six months. That's what it will take for both of them to benefit from the marriage. But they fall in love and danger surrounds them constantly. Malik almost loses the best thing that has happened in his life when the bad guys grab Gwen for nefarious reasons. This is a very exciting mafia romance. I loved it. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

    Twists and heart breaks

Oh man. I really enjoyed this book. I do love a mafia man who doesn't shy away from how he feels, although he did try to avoid her to stop the feelings but never once degraded her. This book was really good in character development both main characters saw major growth from holding on to anger and grief, and to letting people in and learning to love and not be afraid. I also really liked zakh I might have to go and read his book because he was so supportive of his brother even when he was being an idiot. Now for the twists omg the first one in the cell I yelled "oh my God!".. I did not see that coming and then the second when the "helper" opened the door I had tears I said anyone but them!! Anyways the book is long and does drag a bit in certain parts but overall 4.5 stars

This is the third book in the Savage Legacy Series about Bratva Romances, but can be read as a standalone. This is Malik and Gwen's story, and it's one wild ride. The book is dark and has some triggers, but it's full of suspense, danger and drama. Malik is out for revenge for his friend's death, and he seeks out the daughter of the man responsible. That's what brings him to Gwen, twenty three-year-old lingerie designer and daughter of Manolo, who was head of the Navarro Cartel. Malik doesn't count on losing his heart to her. This is a book about revenge, betrayal, greed and lies. It's followed by love and forgiveness. This is a fast-paced page-turner that's hard to put down. I read a free copy via Bad Boy Updates and voluntarily chose to review it.
