One of my students is a huge fan of Big Nate, and when he bought it at our recent book fair, and read it in one day, I knew I had to read it as well. What a fun, fun book! And I loved the emphasis put on both creativity and teamwork in this book in the Big Nate series. A great addition to our library!

Nate Wright is about to have the biggest blast when he hears that his school, P.S. 38, is going to close down for a short notice. This means that he gets to mingle with friends, relax and enjoy drawing comics galore! But, all that changes when P.S. 38 announces that studies will continue in Jefferson, the mortal enemy of P.S. 38. The thing is, P.S. 38 hasn't beaten Jefferson in ANYTHING, so Nate and his gang are ready for a thrashing. But all that changes when the find Jefferson's 'Achilles' Heel' and use it against them in the upcoming snow sculpture contest. Will P.S. 38 finally beat Jefferson, or will they still remain the total underdog. Find out in Big Nate Goes for Broke by Lincoln Peirce, a story about comedy, courage and rising up.

This book is very addicting, it's very hard to get off. It's a good book to enjoy and it also has some comic parts to it. Nate does everything odd in the book. Nate's archenemy (Gina) is trying to edit the yearbook but he thought she would make everything about herself some he told his friend (Francis) to be the Co-editor and do stuff to stop her from taking over, this book can be found in Sora. Superpro book, must-read ;).

The book Big Nate: Goes for Broke by Lincoln Peirce is a hilarious book full of fun stories and events of young cartoonist Nate Wright. If you like fiction books, I highly recommend this book and series.
Nate Wright, a future cartoonist in the making, is tired of his school always loosing to their rivals from Jefferson Middle School. When Nate's school, P.S. 38, has to be fixed due to a pipe malfunction, Nate and his fellow comrades must go to school at Jefferson for two weeks. Nate is determined to beat Jefferson at the school's basketball game, but he finds himself in deep trouble when he stood up for Chad in the food court and ended up breaking his wrist. You can only find out if P.S. 38 finally beats Jefferson at something once you've read this book.
I recommend this book to anybody who likes to read fiction books. I have read the books in this series many times and find them very entertaining. Even the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Jeff Kinney said, "Big Nate is funny, big time." I hope you consider reading this book because I LOVED it! This book has 224 pages. -
Good book.

Did you ever had that one school you despised as a child ? It could be a rival school, or a school that someone you hated went to, but most of us have had this school before in our lives. This conflict is perfectly shown in this book, Big Nate Goes For Broke. This book perfectly explains how 2 schools fight over literally everything and how school rivalries can get very serious if it gets out of hand. This book focuses on a a whole school trying to find the Achilles' heal of the rival school they have to face, Jefferson Middle School. It's now up to Nate Wright and his whole class, P.S. 38's seventh grade, to find Jefferson Middle School's weakness and exploit it to finally win against them.
Nate Wright is in charge of the P.S. doodling club, a group he founded to be a place where anyone who wants can draw whatever they want after school. As a way of expanding the club, one of the teachers suggest that Nate try to add a few girls into the club. Being faced with this task, Nate decides to pick a girl who works as the poster designer for the school DeeDee. As Nate is about to ask DeeDee to join the club, he stumbles his words and DeeDee immediately thinks she's asking him to the dance. She says yes which forces him to go to the dance. During the dance the roof springs a leak, and the place starts flooding so the chaperones rush all the kids out to see their school flooding from the outside. The school is closed for maintenance to work on, and Nate and DeeDee are happy that they don't have to go to school for a while. To their dismay, they figure out from Nate's dad that everyone at P.S. 38 has to attend Jefferson Middle School. Jefferson Middle School is superior to P.S. 38 in every way. It has better food, a better mascot, better sport teams, and even better artists. Nate and his grade feel crushed by how superior the school is and sets out to find a way to beat them.
I love the story of this book, it feels more unique than other books similar to this. I feel this book is very relatable, especially for the competitive people who care about the wins to losses ratio of rival schools. The story composition and plot are very well executed, while at the rising action and the climax, it feels very exciting. Like I previously said about this series, Lincoln Pierce, the author, has an amazing sense of pacing. The timing is perfect, and even in the climax it doesn't get to out of hand like other books do at their climax.
I feel like literally any competitive person would like this book, as the whole book is about the competitiveness between 2 schools. Another good recommendation is the demographic of the book which is roughly 8-13, which is a perfect age for reading this book. -
How would you feel if you had a rival, but never won a single event against them, that's exactly what happens in Big Nate Goes For Broke by Lincoln Pierce. Nate Wright is in a doodling club and they need a girl in their club, Nate chooses to ask Dee Dee. Nate is in the middle of the question and Dee Dee assumes that he is asking her to the dance "I know what you were about to ask and sure i'd love to go to the dance with you!". At the dance Dee Dee helps nate out by lending him clothes when Randy takes his clothes. Nate is into cartoons and doodling and he has an idea for a contest they can beat jefferson at. He thought of doing a snowball contest. They find out jefferson actually doesn't win fairly and they get called out. Read Big Nate Goes For Broke by Lincoln Pierce to find out how it ends. This book entertained me the whole way through. It had many different conflicts that needed to be resolved. This book was action packed and a lot of fun to read! "Big nate is funny, big time" - Jeff Kinney author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Lincoln peirce has won many awards such as the NY times bestselling author. I think this book is perfect for a boy that is in middle school that likes to read fiction. There are many other Big Nate books as well. I honestly think this book is better than diary of a wimpy kid. Make sure to check this book out!
