I have always enjoyed learning new things!
Ten new tidbits of information, that I learned from this book, are:
A. Rose, an awesome bulldog, snowboards bunny slopes, at ski resorts near Los Angeles, with her bulldog friend, Tillman. During a parade in Pasadena, California, Rose snowboarded on a specially designed float.
B. The art of sugar sculpting, began in China, more than 500 years ago!
C. A Zedonk is the offspring of a female donkey and a male zebra. The little one has a donkey's brown coat on top and a zebra's striped legs!
D. Sometimes rainbows can be upside down! These rainbows are called circumzenithal arcs. They are usually seen in colder areas; they are caused, by the refraction of light through ice crystals, rather than raindrops.
E. According to legend, the ghost of Abigail Adams, the wife of the second President of the United states, does laundry in the White House's East Room.
F. A species of mushroom glows 24 hours a day, and its bio-luminescent green light, is bright enough to read by, at night!
G. Off the coast of New Zealand, lives a recently discovered fish, called a Fathead Sculpin fish. It became an instant internet sensation and even has a Facebook page!
H. Blue stripes can form in icebergs, when water fills cracks in the ice, and freezes. Most icebergs are white but some are green or blue.
I. Your brain is sometimes, more active when you sleep, than when you are awake.
J. Each Halloween, dozens of dogs dress up in their cutest costumes, for a Pet Parade, in New York City.
As Lord Byron wrote, "Tis strange - but true; for truth is always strange; Stranger than fiction. -
I’ve been feeling slightly uninspired to write reviews this past week. However this book has really stood out as a gem. I think we paid about 75 cents for it at McKay’s used bookstore. I’m sure that’s because it is old and somewhat out of date now. But the copy we bought looked pristine. My five year old has been coming back to this book again and again. He loves the dog and giraffe motels. The upside down house. He’s been peppering his conversation with all sorts of new tech vocabulary. Even in 2018, I don’t think a Mom can go wrong bringing this book in the house.

My kids love these! If you have kids, or if you are a teacher, you've got to get these for your children! They make my kids want to know more. It takes us a long time to get through them, this one took me a month, because they want to look up so many of the facts to find out more. I can't recommend these enough!

Originally got this book at Asher's (7yo) request, but ended up flipping through it myself one afternoon. It's a fun collections of weird factoids about the man-made and natural world, including the ever popular pets-riding-skateboards section.

S is always drawn to these types of books. He didn't love this one as much as he loves the National Geographic "Would You Rather..." books, but he still liked paging through it in his downtime over the past few weeks.
