JUST READ THE BOOK FOR A SECOND TIME AND OH MY GOD IT WAS JUST AS GOOD THE SECOND TIME!
I read it in 2.5 hours and it was just wonderful! I am craving the second book now! Only two days to wait!
Come watch my video review and author interview with Gabriella Lepore!
I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! HANDS DOWN MY MOST LOVED WITCHCRAFT READ!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oP_t... -
I love this book so much! I couldn't put it down!! All the characters are amazing and I love the writing style. For anyone who hasn't read this, you should pick it up.
-
Well, this book certainly had two things going for it:
One, no insta-love!
Two, it was a quick read. Not only page count-wise, but I did feel quite entertained end-to-end and never had the urge to skim.
I did find myself struggling with another urge, though: giving in to my confusion and asking out aloud all those questions that kept piling up in my head...
... like:
Why are there two kinds of witches and what exactly are their purposes?
What kinds of Arcanas are there?
Why are the Hunters called Hunters? Who is it they're supposed to be hunting? Are they some sort of security guards? Are they evil? Why are they emotionally detached? Why is it they're drawn to blood? What's their story?
What's up with the castle? Is there any sort of schedule the kids have to abide by or are they actually free to do anything they want without any kind of supervision? Is Wendolyn the only person of authority in the entire castle? And if so, why is she MIA all the time? What does she do all day long?
Does Mia really have no sense of self-preservation at all?
What's up with Dino? Why are his actions so unreasonable? Why is he such an ass?
Why exactly do they suddenly profess their love for one another? Where the hell did that come from? I wasn't aware they even liked each other.
... and so, so many more.
Seriously, while the premise had some potential, it was totally ruined by laughable world building, lousy charactersization, ridiculous, drawn out dialogues and major plot holes. The characters didn't leave any impression on me at all, whether it be positive or negative (well, except for Mia's constant TSTL moments) and the romance was completely lost on me.
I kept reading though, and I quickly made it to the end, but it was more out of confusion and the hope that some of my questions might be answered later on, than out of actual intrigue.
Usually when I give a two star-review, I'm at least a little pissed. This time, though... indifference. All I feel is indifference.
Which is why I'm at a total loss as to how this book managed to get so many positive reviews and such a high rating. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone with certain standards regarding the quality of the books they read. -
This story does not deserve such a gorgeous cover. I really tried to like this story, I swear I did, but everything about this book, from the characters to the world building was just undeveloped, predictable, and cliche, making for a horrible book. I'm honestly regretting not dnf-ing this book, it was that bad.
The Witches of Glass Castle follows sister and brother, Mia and Dino. The story begins as the two are dropped off for the summer at Glass Castle to discover and learn about their witch powers. Mia is instantly excited about the idea about being a witch, whereas Dino considers his powers to be a curse. Things begin to spiral out of control as the two face encounters with Hunters (another type of witch).
Because I found so many bad qualities and criticisms, I'm going to make an easily readable pros & cons list so my head doesn't explode from paragraph after paragraph of ranting.
Cons:
Characters:
- There's no disbelief over the idea of being a witch or that witches even exist
- Mia's a complete idiot (when you're told not to do something a few hours before, you don't do it!)
- Colt's an Edward/cliche vampire wannabe (no "humanity", likes the taste of blood, super fast, suppose to be feared, etc)
- Total insta-love that made NO sense
- The aunt (Madeline) is ridiculous and self absorbed, even in times of need
- Mia's a horrible protagonist
- For a mind reader, Wendolyn was pretty clueless on how much Mia & Dino keep screwing up
- Such prejudice against these Hunter witches you literally learned about two seconds ago (and who was this you ask? Can you guess? It was our lovely naive protagonist Mia)
- Such awkward & horrible dialogue
- Dino ripped out a page from a book and I was not amused
The Writing:
- A few grammar/editing mistakes (you would think after being published for the third time, these mistakes would have been caught)
- Switching POVs without warning, sometimes as frequent as every other paragraph
World building:
- There literally was none:
- There was no rules on how magic worked (why is raising someone from the dead so easy?)
- No indication of when and where this story took place
- For a school that was suppose to teach young witches how to use their powers, there were surprisingly no classes, teachers, or instruction
- What even is the point of everything about the Hunters?
The Plot:
- Once again; the insta-love, I cannot
- Predictable twists
- Climax rushed & too easily resolved
The (very few) Pros:
- The newest cover
- Both Mia & Dino developed friendships at Glass Castle (though Mia pushed her's to the background once her love interest started getting more screen time)
- Benny Blue (Dino's friend)
- Colt called out Mia's stupidity
- The aunt, though ridiculous, was amusing
Honestly, the first 30-40% of this book was mediocre, but afterwards everything about the book went downhill, like the author rushed the end and couldn't be bother to try to revise it.
I literally don't understand how this book has such a high rating. Did I read a different story or something?
As you can probably guess; I will not be continuing on with this series nor would I recommend this book to anyone. -
After only receiving positive feedback about this book, I finally decided to read it myself. People told me it would be a bit like Harry Potter. Well, for me it´s definitely not.
The plot is about two siblings, Mia and Dino experiencing that they have witchcraft powers. While not having been told anything about that, they are brought to a special school called the Glass Castle.
Both are trying to develop their special powers there. Unfortunately there also are others things they have to worry about...
For me, this book has not much in common with Harry Potter despite the Schol of Wizardry and Witchcraft... But nevertheless I absolutely adored that book and I couldn´t stop reading- I really like the author´s style of writing and the way she develops the story. Also because it is written in different points of view (which I generally like, because it gives you an overview obout several characters)
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read YA, Romance and Fantasy books and I´m really looking forward to sequel which is coming up this month ( december 2014).
( I apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes - I´m no native speaker :) ) -
For me, the first quarter was a little bit slow. However, it soon picked up and I found myself yelling at my kindle at times. The twist really got to me and I ended up throwing my kindle onto my bed and yelling at it (in a good way). To me, you know a good book when you start yelling at it and wanting to throw it across the room. I enjoyed it. However, at times, before the twist, it was a bit predictable, but I liked it in the end. I did like Mia and Colt's relationship, but I don't 'ship' them - as in they are not a couple I'm going to drool over and beg for me from them.
If there is a sequel, I will be picking it up and reading it, but as a stand alone, it's pretty good. -
4.5 Stars
I loved this! I loved how it wasn't just following one specific character but all of them. I loved how the story progressed and I loved the ending! -
Overall Rating: 4 Rockin’ ★★★★
Gabriella Lepore's book The Witches of the Glass Castle is a heart warming story of powerful witches, friends, family and finding true love. The story was well written and the characters effectively developed. I was ensnared by the story line immediately and captured by the delightfully crafted characters.
Mia and her brother Dino have just come into their powers as witches. Needing a place to further learn about themselves and the gifts that have been bestowed upon them, the siblings find themselves at the Glass Castle. However, there is an unforeseen power that wants Mia's brother, Dino.
Colt is a Hunter. A sentry of sorts for the Glass Castle. With great powers of his own, he was born and bred to hunt and kill all sorts of things witches included. Although, never is his wildest dreams did he think that he would learn to be human, really human in a way that he could love. He was born to be cold and vicious, but the day that Mia walked into the Glass Castle everything changed for him.
I loved this story. It brought about wonderful feelings of love and family. The feelings of knowing that how you are born is not a choice, but the friends that you trust is a choice that you can make. A story of coming of age, finding oneself, and living life to the fullest contain the concrete theme throughout this book. I recommend this book for sure. I can't wait to read more about this story! Beautifully done, Gabriella!

The Witches of the Glass Castle
Gabriella Lepore -
So very good. Ms. Lepore is such an amazing author. I made up a play list with songs that seemed to fit the book. It was that good.
-
Benjamin recomended this book, so i was pretty excited to read it.
It inst amazing as he said, but it's really good!
The story could have more development when cames to the powers and abilities, but i did enjoy how the author create the world.
The character are adorable. I laugh a lot during Mia and Colts dialogues. Mia's Aunt was hilarious too.
I'm very excited to the next book :D -
This book is SO much fun, and a really quick read. The writing and story made it easy to get into, and then before I knew it I'd finished!
In some ways it's a kind of Harry Potter meets XMen world, with young witches spending their summer at the Glass Castle as they discover and develop their powers. There's a mind-reading headmistress of sorts, and a friend group made up of the quirky and the misfits. I like the fact that there are different types of powers, and I love the addition of the Hunters - magical warriors who are not quite 'human' and are exceptionally cocky. There's also a worrying amount of blood-swapping going on.
The romance, which can often be a deal breaker for me, was fun and I only cringed a couple of times ar Mia's neediness. Colt's arrogance and sarcasm (which lands on the side of lovable rather than annoying) balances it all pretty nicely.
Overall I enjoyed myself a lot reading this, and I'll be picking up the sequel. -
Mia’s life is thrown through a loop when she discovers her family secret— that she and her brother Dino are witches. After they are sent away to study their craft, they begin down a path that will change their lives forever.
Suddenly thrust into a world where handsome warriors command the power of nature and people’s thoughts and actions can be manipulated at will, Mia and Dino struggle to navigate their own allegiances and do what they know to be right when everything around them seems beyond their control. -
I read this book awhile ago and to be honest I didn't expect very much. I'd read the blurb and only really bought it because I was on holiday and had nothing else to read.
But I was pleasantly surprised with the book. It took two or three chapters for me to really get into the book but after that I was hooked! It was easy to read faced paced and a different kind of witch book than I've ever read before. I finished think book within the night and would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone!
In fact I'm going to re-read it when I've finished my current series. -

16-year-old Mia and 17-year-old Dino are siblings, and they’ve just survived a fire in their basement. A fire that was started when Mia read some strange words that were written on the wall down there.
Their mother and aunt don’t seem in the least concerned about the fire though, and instead tell them that they are witches!
Mia and Dino are then taken to a strange glass castle owned by a woman called Wendolyn, and left there to learn about witchcraft.
Dino seems to instantly know his power, while Mia finds things a little more difficult.
Hunters (a type of witch) have been spotted just outside the property’s limits though, and Wendolyn is concerned about what they are doing and what they want.
Will Mia ever discover her powers? What do the hunters want? And why is Dino behaving so strangely?
In short – this book had some major flaws, and just didn’t do it for me.
I quite liked this book at the beginning, although I found it really difficult to get into. By halfway I was having to force myself to get through this to the end.
Mia was an okay character, but she was a bit whiney, and a bit stupid too at times. She was warned that the two types of witches – the arcane, and hunters, did not mix, and that she was to stay away from the resident hunters at the glass castle, and even more importantly, to not leave the castles grounds. Almost immediately, Mia then goes wandering off into the forest (strike one), then starts obsessing over one of the hunters that she bumps into (strike two), starts making excuses to go searching for said hunter (strike three), gets in a sticky situation with one of the other hunters (strike four), drinks the first hunters blood (strike five), gets said hunter shot and then allows him to drink her blood (strike six), and on, and on, and on, and on (strike one million).
I really wished that Mia would just get some sense, start looking out for herself, and stop obsessing over this boy who really didn’t even seem to have proper emotions. Colt was a really strange character. His emotions were seriously stunted, he warned Mia that he wanted to kill her(!), and he was just really wooden. It was almost like he was a different species (ah, I guess he was!), and even when he seemed to be searching Mia out, and she thought that he had feelings for her, it was more like he wanted to study her, or wanted her as a pet or something. He really didn’t seem to have the sort of feelings Mia wanted him to have.
Mia really annoyed me in this way, because she just had so little sense, I really felt like smacking her at times, just to see if it knocked some sense into her.
Dino was another odd character. First he’s so mean to Mia that he makes her cry, and then he’s defending her. He was really against the hunters outside the boundaries initially, but then seemed to do a total u-turn. He also made friends with another boy at the castle, and then totally turned his back on him. Dino was just odd, and I really didn’t care for him at all.
Parts of the storyline also annoyed me. A certain person gets hit in the chest with an arrow, almost dies from the poison on the tip, and then once the poison is neutralised is perfectly okay. What about the hole in their chest from where the arrow went in? This is never even mentioned! Sorry, but that just irritates me. Surely if you get hit in the chest by an arrow, it’s going to do some damage.
While said person is dying from the poison, he ways that his friends will come looking for him because he’s dying. Once he’s healed, he says that they won’t be looking for him now ‘cause he’s okay. Er, Hello! Won’t they come looking to ask what the hell is going on? Just ‘cause he’s no longer dying they’ll just go back to whatever they were doing? Sorry, but that just doesn’t cut it with me.
I was having to force myself to keep reading this book by the 70% mark, and then the good old ‘Luke, I your father!’ storyline gets brought out. Give me a break. I’m so sick of getting to the end of a book and finding out that the main characters absentee father is the bad guy. Believe me when I say that it really didn’t add anything to this book, and it wasn’t even well done.
Eventually I got to the end of this book. I can’t say that I wasn’t really pleased to be finished! The ending was okay, if a little predictable, and then there was a bit of a romantic revelation that was quite positively puke-worthy.
Overall; someone else may like this book, but it just didn’t do it for me. Too many flaws and wooden characters and predictable storylines.
5 out of 10. -
Mia and her brother are shocked to find out they are witches. In order to learn about their powers and how to control them, they must go to The Glass Castle. At the castle they meet others like them and find that there are two very different types of witches, the Arcana and the hunters. Danger lurks near the castle causing Mia and Dino to search within to find their place. This is just a very general description and the book has so much more depth to the plot. I just want to be very careful not to give anything away.
I thought this book had a unique storyline and some pretty great characters. Colt who happens to be a hunter is pretty awesome. I love his cocky and confident attitude. He just has that certain something about him that pulled me in. He is by far my favorite character. Mia had some qualities that I found appealing too, such as her loyalty to her brother and the ones she cared for. I also have to mention Cassandra and Madeline, Mia's mother and aunt. They were hillarious and I wish they would have had a bigger part in the story.
I think this series has great potential to develop into a front-runner in the YA paranormal genre. Really enjoyable to read and actually quite addicting. I recommend you grab a copy, kick back and enjoy! -
I wish to thank the publisher for sending me a review copy.
This novel gives a spin to witches in a very entertaining tale about two siblings and the power of love.
As for positive points it's an eventful book. Following many protagonists helps the narrative along very well.
The relationship between Mia and Dino was endering and it was great seeing them stick together until the end.
On the downside, it felt a bit plain and predictable sometimes. I was expecting a bit more world development and I was not a big fan of the couple and didn't understood their connection very well.
Recommended for fans of fantasy that wouldnt mind a twist into familiar tropes. In the end I give this book 3,5 stars. Fun but some things detracted from the experience. -
What a brilliant read!!!
Page turner!
Such an intriguing story with so many loveable and great characters.
With a few twists and a few romances involved it was the perfect book.
Loved reading about all the powers a witch could have.
Can't wait to read book 2!!!

Review of The Witches Of the Glass Castle by @gabriellalepore_books @oftomes
Rating: 4/5 ⭐
The perfect read for this time of the year! I'm so glad I decided to read this now.
Witches, spells, blood, mist, rain, all elements that I'm dying to find in other books at the moment!
~
PLOT: Mia’s life is thrown through a loop when she discovers her family secret — that she and her brother Dino are witches. After they are sent away to study their craft, they begin down a path that will change their lives forever.
Suddenly thrust into a world where warriors command the power of nature and people’s thoughts and actions can be manipulated at will, Mia and Dino struggle to navigate their own allegiances and do what they know to be right when everything around them seems beyond their control.
~
Writing style: flawless, it definitely pulls you into the book, not too many descriptions but enough to satisfy our curiosity of the surroundings and characters.
~
Characters: I. Loved. Them. All. Dino & Mia are so deeply invested in their relationship as brother and sister that they don't even know that; they love each other, but as the ultimate sibling rule command, they lack of communication and think that one hates the other.
That's why shit happens. Pardon my French.
Kizzy and Blue ♥️
Colt ♥️😭 my baby has gone through quite a few stages of "learning how to be human and be in control" and he was successful. Love him.
~
Then why 4/5⭐? Because there are 2 things that are not clear to me: first, wasn't the Glass Castle supposed to be a kind of 'school'? The kids are just left on their own to learn how to control and/or evoke their powers. Uhm.
Second: Hunters. Why Hunters? Who should they hunt? No other creatures are mentioned, so that only leaves witches as an answer, but that doesn't make sense. Unless we talk of other evil Hunters' covens. Plus, they looked more like vampires than actual witches!
~
Nonetheless, I devoured this novel. Just a couple of days and I was done with it, it's the definition of unputdownable! -
I may be in the minority here, but this book, despite its intriguing premise, was a bit of a disappointment to me. It started off well and, for the most part, the writing was quite good.
But....
First of all, the "romance". This was by far the most frustrating part of the book for me. I did not like Colt at all, even with his all-too brief glimpses of humanity and vulnerability. It was as though the author was trying too hard to make him into a bad boy whom young women supposedly swoon helplessly over. He was far too cocky, arrogant, conceited and mercurial for my liking. The interactions and dialogue between him and Mia were almost laughable at times, and not in a good way.
Mia herself was an okay character for the most part, but there were definitely times when I wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into her when she acted so childish, stupid, and impulsive. And, for a witch who supposedly possessed such awesome powers, we saw very little proof of that. It was extremely frustrating to me that the book focused more on the implausible and meh romance between Colt and Mia than on the witchy aspects.
And, where was Wendolynn through all of this? She was supposed to be teaching Mia and Dino all about their powers and helping them to control them and cope with them. But, again, there was very little evidence of her doing any such thing.
Dino's story line was actually more interesting than Mia's, but his obnoxious, cold, sullen attitude made him very unlikeable and unworthy of my sympathy.
All in all, this was a fairly enjoyable read, but not one that overly impressed me. -
First let me say I loved this book. I mean I love when a book grabs you pulls you in and makes you want to read it all in one day. One that gives an escape from reality. One that makes you love some of the characters in the book and despise others. One that lets you see something coming but still has you saying OMG when hit happens. Yup that’s what I love in a book. Any one of them will do but this book does it all. I had my moments of laughing out loud and even cried a little (but I’m a cry baby, so that might be why). I really enjoyed this book. It was such a joy to read.
Ok on to the book and the author. One I have never heard of either till this one was released on kindle a friend invited me to the release party so I thought I’ll check it out. After all the cover is amazing and draws you in. From page one I was intrigued. I found the author did an amazing job getting you to feel and like the characters. I felt the story was well developed. The plot was amazing and I loved all the twist it took. Like I stated some things you see coming but when they do you still are like yes while others having you say no!!
This is a really good read and I recommend you pick it up today.
PS.

Witches, hunters, protected castle, fight for power and to stay true to one's self, good vs evil, forbidden romance... what else could someone ask for? I loved this book! Such a light, fun read! I read it all in just one sitting. The world was very interesting and what the characters were going through and how they reacted to all the different situations forced me to keep reading. I loved the romance in this book! It was slow, cute and just pure perfection! I fell inlove Colt! He was my favorite character! To see his inner struggle to keep his feelings away and then surrendering to them was beautiful! I loved the way he spoke , it reminded me of the old times. Also, he made me laugh with practically every single line he said! Oh, Colt... <3 All in all, I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a simple, light and fun read!

I am falling in love with Gabriella Lepore! Her writing style is amazing and her stories are phenomenally good. This is the second book I've read by her and I can't wait to read the rest of her books.

Another book about witches eh? How many are you going to read this year Paige? Gosh, can’t you read any thing other than books about witches? Hey, witches are fun to read about and they’re a very versatile “creature”. They don’t have strict rules they need to follow like zombies or werewolves. They can be totally different from other witchy books, which is a reason why I loved this book. It was, again, very unique from the other witchy books you could read but it wasn’t outlandish at all. It had witches as either belonging to two different factions and at least five different power sets. You can be an Arcana or a Hunter, and you could have powers to see the future, control people’s emotions, control nature, conjure, or one which was mentioned very briefly which is Reader. I liked this division of powers and I liked the different factions of the witches presented in the text. I felt the characters were also very well developed, even the most slightly mentioned characters had a ton of personality in their short period of time in the book. I felt that the plot was amazing and it was a slow, but powerful build. The pacing was also very well done, it leaned more on the slow side but it worked well with how the plot needed to be developed. I also thought that the writing was very well done and it was very easy for many readers to understand.
The only slightly bad things I thought this book had in it were the way the characters were written and the use of multiple POVs. The writing, while extremely well done, made the characters feel younger than they should have been. For a good bit during the book I thought the main characters were 9 or 10 years old, or at least 12 years old. When it was later revealed they were 15-18 I was very taken aback because the way their dialogue was written felt much younger than they actually were. The other issue I like to point out for other readers is that this book does contain multiple POVs. Some readers don’t like this, but I didn’t mind it. I thought it was well done and the voices were distinctive enough that it didn’t take me out of the book, but just FYI multiple POV.
Verdict: Definitely one of the best witch books I’ve read in my life. I loved this book from start to finish and I definitely want to check out the rest of the series. This book is so inspirational in that it presents two characters who have issues tapping into their power and one who is given a more feminine sounding power when he is a male. In fact, that power is presented as one of the most powerful powers that can be had. I loved that the book showed that and showed characters who genuinely struggle with their powers and aren’t just naturally gifted at everything they touch. Definitely would recommend for any YA fantasy lover. -
"Take a look around. These are your brothers and sisters. United as Arcana."
This book came highly recommended to me by a friend over on Instagram who was hosting a read-a-long, so I decided to jump on board and give it a go. I had one of Gabriella Lepore's other books on my Kindle, but hadn't managed to get around to it yet, so I was excited at the opportunity to read something of hers.
Mia and her brother Dino have their world rocked, when out of the blue they learn that they are both witches and are sent to Glass Castle for the summer to develop their abilities. Whilst Mia seems to take it all in stride, Dino struggles with it right from the very first.
Dino was a character that I found a little bit hard to like. He was incredibly harsh at times and I just couldn't understand why. It is revealed to us part way through the book, but I think I could have liked him better if I had known his reasons a bit earlier in. I think his storyline was the one that I enjoyed the most though. He is faced with the toughest of choices and the much darker path, which was the most exciting aspect of the story for me.
I liked Mia, even though there were times that she came across as quite young and vulnerable for her age. I liked her willingness to embrace the changes in her and to take the initiative to learn more and understand it.
And then she saw him. Another form of unspoilt nature, astonishingly beautiful in a way that she had never known before. It was Colt.
The romance between Mia and Colt didn't have me on board from the beginning. Colt is very short and abrupt with Mia and there were definitely no warm and fuzzy moments between them in the beginning. But I think Mia was a bit like me, in that she was intrigued by Colt. I wanted to understand him better I think. He is very cocky and self assured and has no problem telling everyone how great he is. Colt is a hunter and he has no room for love. But occasionally there would be a little moment where I could glimpse that Mia was affecting Colt and he wasn't quite sure how to deal with that. It was those vulnerable moments that kept me wanting to learn more about him. And by the end of the book, I was quite invested in the progression of their feelings for each other.
A moonbeam came through the open window, catching the blade with a deadly glint. And then, Colt struck.
I must confess that I haven't read a whole lot of books based around witches, but I think I would have liked a bit more insight into Mia and Dino's emerging abilities and a bit more of the witchy side of things. Spells and potions and such. But in saying that, it didn't detract from the story because there was always quite a bit going on.
The Witches of the Glass Castle was an enjoyable read that kept me entertained throughout. I'm really glad to hear that there will be a sequel and look forward to seeing how things progress with Dino and Mia's abilities and how Colt deals with this thing called love.
3.5/5 Witchy Stars. -
I would like to thank OfTomes Publishing for sending me this arc to review. I have heard nothing about this author previously and I hadn’t read anything previously. I loved this book it was amazing! I read this in one sitting and honestly it took me like an hour! I just couldn’t put this down it was so gripping and the writing and characters it just drew me in and I didn’t want to leave. When it ended I was like I want more. I WANT TO READ MORE. I want to go back into this world! It’s the first story this year that has given me this feeling! Which I didn’t realise until I had finished the book!
We follow two siblings Mia and Dino who have been taken to the glass castle and adventure and everything follows! I loved the plot of this (I’m not going to go into detail because I’d rather keep this spoiler free so I’m going to be vague). With every step of the plot, I loved it and I loved how it was played out. Ahhh I just love it! If you couldn’t tell lol!
My favourite parts were well everything it’s all amazing! I really liked the sibling aspect in this book I love reading about siblings I should really read a lot more because I don’t read enough siblings. The love-hate relationship between them I could honestly relate to you being that I have siblings and they are annoying shit bags, but I also understood protecting them like Dino tries to do with Mia and vice versa. I really liked their relationship in this book! There is a particular scene that is my favourite I may have to do a video review so I can talk about it! But it was brilliant and I loved it so much.
I must have a thing for emotionally unavailable characters because straight away I was interested in Colt and I even found him funny when at times he wasn’t even being funny. I loved his character and it was so interesting watching him and Mia together I loved how they bonded. I loved everything about this I am still in gushing mode even like almost like a week later! But honestly the way these characters were written it was just amazing.
All the characters felt so real and for me, characters are the most important thing to a story and without characters, I love I can’t connect with stories but this wasn’t a problem. The characters felt 100% real and 3D it didn’t feel like any of them were there just to be side characters you got the hint that all the side characters had real backgrounds to them and I loved that.
Although there was a very much urgency in this post in terms of the plot and what the characters felt, we did have some very light and sometimes humorous moments and it was just perfect.
The world building was amazing the way that Gabrielle described the setting by the graves and the forest and even the school well glass castle it felt like I was there and sometimes I do struggle with imagining the settings so this was perfect and made me love it even more.
I think I am going to end this review (should probably be called a gush) here and I may probably end up doing a spoiler review sometime in the near future! -
I didn't want it to end. I want a sequel! I love the story and it's a shame that it's a stand alone (according to Goodreads of course).
Mia and her brother Dino have just awaken their magic powers. They are going to the Glass Castle in order to educate themselves and unravel their magic powers.
There are two kind of "mages" in the Glass Castle. The Arcana, what Mia and Dino are and the Hunters which are trained warriors said to have no humanity.
They story is so interesting and the writing is so refreshing and enjoyable and so easy to read. I really recommend picking up this book.
I JUST REALLY WISH THAT IT HAD A SEQUEL!!!!
