Pat-A-Cake (Nursery Play-Along Classic) Reviews

Another DS favorite (keep your eye on baby!)

A nursery play-along classic...
The familiar rhyme is at the top of the page and added story text is at the bottom. I read through the book and then led the group in the actions. I mentioned to the mothers that when this is played as a lap game the line "and put it in the oven" is where you dip the baby down off your lap between your knees and then pull them back up onto your lap. They love this.
Nursery Rhymes promote Play for Healthy Development
and Reading Readiness.
Academics state the important role listening to nursery rhymes, and in many cases watching the accompanying actions, help in language acquisition.Tthe ability to listen and discriminate between sounds in the language is an important predictor of children's later success in learning to read, and of course rhymes can play an important part in that. All cultures are hard-wired for the language of music.
