In The Edge of Forever, new author Tom Morris captures the dramatic moments of his grandmother's childhood in this frontier historical fiction. More than a coming of age story, this spellbinding, loosely biographical epic illustrates the life of a pioneering Texas family as they struggle against the Plains Indians immediately following the American Civil War. While the entire South was devastated, the McKlarrens live at the edge of Comanche Indian territory and face death every day of their lives. As settlers, life was always demanding, but as Comanche Indians continue to make repeated raids, no one is safe. It isn't long before teenaged Tom McKlarren's mother and girlfriend are abducted. Against all odds and from the very brink of a fate they'll be unable to control, it is up to Tom and an old Texas Ranger to bring the womenfolk back-and all the rest that a band of warring Indians has taken.
The Edge of Forever Reviews

An interesting and enjoyable read.
The author has obviously done his research. Texas at the end of the Civil War is a dangerous land. There is little of any law and Indian raids have run off many of the earlier settlers.
The story is very slow to develop as the author builds the background for the plot. After about 90 pages the story takes off and from there on it held my interest and became a page turner.
If you read history you will enjoy The Edge of Forever; however,
a little editing would have made a good book into a best seller.

Edge of forever
Great exciting read. Clear and descriptive of the Texas landscape. Life on a ranch subject to Indian raids would have been really frightening.
