Aby Warburg Reviews
-
biggest motivation for finishing this book was to check it on goodreads LMFAO but it was surprisingly readable so if youre a nerd then i would recommend it (tho i did skim over some bits if they got too boring or detailed)

For a German course I took on Aby Warburg. This biography was supplemental to the essays we read by Warburg and other art historians/theorists. Although I was not a fan of this class at first (since I'm not very into art or art history), this book was able to paint (pun totally intended) a better picture of who Warburg was and how his upbringing and major life events influenced the way he saw art, especially that of the Late Roman period.

You fascinate me, Warburg. "Mnemosyne" and all.

Fascinating biography of Aby Warburg, extremely well written by Ernst H. Gombrich. I read this book in one go :-) !

I found this terribly abtruse and ended up skimming a lot of the book. Very disappointed since I wanted to learn more about Warburg.
