The Art of Cars 2 Reviews

We pre-ordered a copy of this book from Amazon and it arrived a few days before the film premiered.
I’d held off on reading it before seeing the film; just in case it contained some spoilers, which it kind of does. The material is organized primarily by location, including not only the main cities visited, but also has a chapter on “Spycraft” and another titled “Roads Not Taken” that contains concept art for scenes that were cut, such as another race set in Germany.
As with the other Pixar “Art of” books, there’s a great selection of concept art, from rough sketches to finished designs, storyboards and color scripts. I enjoy seeing how the design of the characters develops over time. The text contains plenty of quotes from many members of the creative team: among them John Lasseter, the director, Bob Pauley, the production designer, and Jay Schuster, character art director, whose background in industrial design apparently came in handy, especially when looking at how to incorporate spy tools into McMissile and Shiftwell’s overall design.
While this book may not have a general appeal; for Disney geeks like us who want to peek behind the scenes to gain an appreciation of all the hard work that goes into this kind of creative endeavour, it’s right up our Gasoline Alley. -

As one of the few people who actually liked Cars (not loved, but liked), the art on commentary on designs help me appreciate the movie even more, making me want to watch it a few more time to look for the attention to detail and design touches.

I bough this before I'd even watched Cars 1, thinking I'd love anything Pixar produces, but in the end I didn't really care that much about the Cars movies, so giving this to a friend who will enjoy it more than me.

I like it though I'm not fan of it ^_^ but since my youngest brother liked it a lot I want to buy it to show him the sketches and so on, we both enjoyed in different levels ^_^

I feel like the writers of this book believe that it is profiling a film that is actually good...

I love all the Pixar Art of books!
