Pooh Plans A Party (Walt Disney Fun To Read Library, Volume 18) Reviews
-
Pooh and his friends can be so mean to Eeyore.
This time 'round they start out with a sort of good deed, throwing a surprise party for Eeyore's birthday, for which no one knows the date so today works as well as any. But when it comes to getting him presents they bemoan their lack of cash -- as if the Hundred-Acre Wood were a hotbed of capitalism and retail outlets. So instead of making anything for Eeyore or giving him something of theirs to keep, they all decide to share something with him. As in, "If Eeyore wants to dig a hole, he can use my shovel to do it!" REALLY?!?!
Rabbit at least offers up carrots he does not expect back, but Pooh offers Eeyore a pot of honey then takes it and the leftovers home with him when the party ends.
Awful role models here.
(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
