  Gorgeous, inspiring, and practical.
  I wouldn't normally spend a great deal of time *reading* a decorating book. Let's face it--it's all about the pictures. With Inspirations, the images of spaces Dixon created are SO very good, that I actually read the book word-for-word (and it's fairly lengthy prose). I stumbled upon Dixon while doing research on William Morris, and was very happy to see a connection between the two. (Yes, that good). While some of Dixon's spaces were eye-grabbing; such as an entryway/hallway in Chinese porcelain; it was the practical, internally-conscious choices that Dixon goes through to create for clients that I found enthralling. He's finding ways to incorporate beauty and sustainability into active lives, rather than expecting clients to live in "art." Altogether, well done.

  Wow. Barry is an amazing designer with an amazing eye. Lush rich fabrics, gorgeous textures, beautiful furniture in lovely places, feel like I swong my legs in a lived in each page. This is the first designer book who shows what pieces inspired him and how he pulled from them to create his own furniture, fabrics, etc. His introductions talk of this orange coloured tin where his gran kept money as his first love of colour. There was not a pictured room that was not inviting, simple and comfortable, without feeling overwrought with objects or colour. Excited to read more of his work and get "inspired". Highly recommended.
