Dragon Over Washington (The Third War Of The Bir Nibaru Gods, #1) Reviews
-
I most likely got this e-book as a Kindle freebie several years ago. Dragon Over Washington is the first High-Tech/Sci-Fi book I've read, and I really enjoyed the High-Tech aspect of the story. Despite the fantastic genre combination, this book left me with more complaints than praise.
The Good:
1) Engaging storyline - I was on the edge of my seat through the last page.
2) The author combined technology and science fiction in a very believable manner.
The Bad:
1) The book was full of typos - not misspelt words, or even homonyms, just the wrong word here and there.
2) The descriptions of the dragons were very hard for me to visualize.
3) Although the story moved quickly, the author wrapped everything up even faster in the last chapter - as though he'd met his word quota and just wanted to be done writing.
4) In the same vein, the author introduced a twist in the final chapter that I never saw coming because there were no allusions to the possibility, nor any foreshadowing imposed on the character involved in the twist.
5) The subtitle references "The Third War of the Bir Nibaru Gods #1" There are no other books (prequel or sequel) to this series. The book itself makes occasional references to the other wars, however they are lost on the reader because there are no other books to get the backstory from.
The Ugly (personal preference complaints):
1) One of the characters is a witch, and I try to avoid books with witches. Also, the character seemed out of place - almost like the author realized he needed to explain some things and created the character to do it. The majority of his actions seem to have little to no effect on the main story. There was also a lot of mystery about the witch that was never explained.
2) The witch summons demons to do things for him. Along with witches I also try to avoid books that have demons as characters. I also had a hard time differentiating between the demon and dragon characters, the descriptions were not good enough that I could visualize either entity. It's also possible that the demons and dragons are one and the same - I really couldn't tell.
The Bottom Line:
Because of the gripping storyline, I don't feel that reading Dragon Over Washington was a waste of time. However, now that I've written my review, I will be deleting it from my Kindle library. Because of my personal preference complaints, I would not recommend this book to anyone. -
What dragon over Washington
You really really need to work on your books names and how you write synopsis for the book has bouth where completely different from the book really us and it pissed me off I hope you remember to be better at that. -
This is badly written, apparently unedited, and self-contradictory. The character development is cliche to non-existent (the main character's a maverick computer genius! With toys on his desk!). This is a genre I like, and I thought perhaps the bad reviews were too harsh. They're not. Save your time.

Couldn't get through this...normally I like this type - maybe if I read the first in the series but felt the language was so stilted and the writing so plodding I kept cringing. I gave up about a third of the way through.
