My Big Book of Fairy Tales/08503 Reviews
-
I've kept this since I was two-years-old. It really is a big part of my childhood reading. A classic, full of fairy tales of all sorts, and weird and fantastical illustrations.
Final Score: 4/5 -
The ISBN of my copy is 0 86307 658 0 and says Marshall Cavendish instead of Simon & Schuster. It was also published by Golden Press in 1987.
This was my all time favourite book as a child, I’ve treated every single story and read one nearly every night!
The variety of illustrations are devine, the font size was great for a little me. This is a book I’m going to keep safe and pass on to my kids when they have kids.
It currently has been in my possession for 33 years and still going strong! -
My favourite fairytale book with lots of unique stories

The ISBN 0-671-08503-4 version I have returns this book but my copy says Marshall Cavendish rather than Simon and Schuster. The stories are reprinted from the popular Story Teller fortnightly part work magazines from the 1970s. This volume has about 75 beautifully illustrated stories. If you search the internet you can find a facebook group dedicated to these stories which are now (sadly) out of print. A few times in the past, the entire collection which included about 400 stories was offered on discs as PDF and MP3 files for charitable causes. I read dozens of these stories aloud to grades 1-3.
