I did not know what to expect when I read this. For only 99 cents I figured that it wouldn't be much of a story. Oh boy was I wrong! I loved it!! What a great modern m/m version of a classic novel! The author was creative in his use of those familiar characters of the traditional Dracula tale and the setting! And he managed to get the main points and plots across and wrap the story up (with a cliffhanger) in under 200 pages. I could tell when I was reading this that the author knew Bram's version very well. He did excellent research. In any case, this was a very pleasant surprise. I loved the fact that Mina and Lucy were Shaun and Michael, male victims.....very refreshing in a genre saturated with swooning females, victimized by the cliched male predator. The only gripe I have with this e-book (it's relatively minor) is that one of the leading rescuers should have been female....i.e. Van Helsing or Seward. Or Renfield even!! Not many females in this story. But it was still great!

An interesting retelling of the classic novel. I haven't read the original yet but plan on doing so soon. I don't know how much this can be considered a traditional romance though... read it to find out what I mean (The end is really interesting and i'll leave it at that). It's got plenty of action and got unexpectedly dark at certain points which I actually liked. Not in a weird way.... It was just interesting to read my first "horror" novel. And yes, this is definitely not a "feel-good" read. Its not depressing and gloomy either though. I don't know whether to give it 3 or 4 stars though. If I had to give my impression of the book in one sentence, I would say "I liked it" (3 stars) but I don't think I'd be all that interested in a book someone else rated 3 stars so I'm going to give it 4.

Well, I wasn't expecting to like this book so much. The writing is superb and Mr. Jackson does an good job of updating the Dracula story. Unlike a lot of M/M vampire stories, Blood Lust doesn't forego a lot of the horrors and ugliness of the undead. We're not talking about Brad Pitt type Vampires here, no, we're dealing with raw evil and twist and turns that will surprise even the most staunch vampire groupie.
Good writing, good pace, and good characters. The only thing that felt off was the rushed ending. I give Blood Lust four stars.

Let me start with saying I don't often abandon books but with this one I had to. This is no reflection on the author because I will probably read other books by them. This book just wasn't for me. The story was too disjointed and I just couldn't connect with the characters

This MM romance is an eerie and modern retelling of the Dracula story. Cross-genre, definitely horror-romance but fun.

Would probably 'DNF' if it had not been for the fact that someone picked it for me
